A/N: This is a serious fic for YuanShao and Lady Liu. Whether they approve of this, well, only the reviews will tell.

Tragedy At Chi Bi

"Now, we must go and fight, for the glory of Wu!" Qiao Xuan pointed his sword towards the fleet which held the enemy.

"And for Shu!" Liu Bei added.

They were at Chi Bi, Qiao Xuan and his group were positioned near Liu Bei and Zhou Yu. Xiao Qiao had insisted that she stay near here father at this time in his life. She feared for him as he was getting older and wasn't too fit for battle. Zhou Yu had offered to watch out for him, but the young woman refused to let him out of her sight. Da Qiao had then decided that she should tag along too. She thought that her father, husband and sister were going, so she should go too.

Qiao Xuan had advanced onto a ship, Xiao Qiao not too far behind. Da Qiao and Zhou Yu remained on land.

It was now that Wu would launch their fire attack. A couple of arrows fell short of their target and the fire wasn't far from the two.

"Xiao Qiao!" Qiao Xuan turned around. "We must go! NOW!" The fire was spreading, fast.

"I'm coming!" She ran to help him back.

"Xiao Qiao! NO!" Qiao Xuan dived and pushed his daughter out of the way of a burning mast. He was now trapped, fire in front of him, fire behind him and to the sides.

"DAD!" Xiao Qiao called. She couldn't see him through the fire. "Dad…" Xiao Qiao began to mourn for her father who would surely not survive this.

"I'm worried," Da Qiao said. "That fire is awfully close."

"I'll go and find them," Zhou Yu said. "You wait here, don't move." Zhou Yu mounted his horse and sped off.

"Xiao Qiao?" he yelled. "Qiao Xuan?"

"Zhou…Y-Yu?" Xiao Qiao sobbed.

"Xiao Qiao, come on." He took her hand and pulled her up. Zhou Yu took one more look around the area, then he rode back to Da Qiao.

"Oh, Zhou Yu, thank you so much." Da Qiao gave Xiao Qiao a hand down. "Where's father?"

"I couldn't see him," Zhou Yu said.

"Xiao, what's wrong?" Da Qiao wiped her sister's face of tears. Xiao Qiao just cried more. "Do you want to tell me?" Xiao Qiao shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. Da Qiao walked over to Zhou Yu and whispered to him. He nodded in agreement.

Zhou Yu and Xiao Qiao had returned to their tent. They lay on the floor which had many layers of material, which made up their bed. Zhou Yu had his arms around his wife, who was mourning her father.

"So…what happened out there?" Zhou Yu asked.

"He…he…d-d-died…" Xiao Qiao said.

"In the fire?"

"Yes." She turned to face him. "He died saving me."

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" Zhou Yu looked her up and down.

"I'm fine. There was a burning mast. It fell and he pushed me to safety, trapping himself…" she trailed off. Zhou Yu pulled the girl close and she hugged him back.

"I love you and I'm glad you're safe," he said.

"I love you too."
