"Raito-kun," L said, fixing Raito with a blank stare, his thumb running absentmindedly along his bottom lip, "I think it's pertinent to this case that we get to know each other."
"Is this really necessary?" said Raito, not wanting to go through another mind game with L after working so hard on the Kira case.
"Yes, it is. The more I know about you, the better I will be able to determine whether you are or are not Kira." L stated, eyes, that to Raito, were watching his every move. "I already know the bare minimum. Your address, family members, blood type, what school you go to, what you like to do in your free time, but, with such a complex character such as yourself, I'm positive there's more.
What Raito really wanted to say was "That's because you put cameras in my home and sent FBI agents following after my every move you crazy, kira-obsessed, bastard." But instead he just told L that he already knew everything about Raito, and that Raito was just a normal teenager. Really.
L, however, wasn't giving up.
"Raito-kun, surely you know every other teenager doesn't get a perfect score on every exam. Or, that other teenagers aren't star tennis players, at the same time. In fact, I have never seen anything that Raito-kun isn't good at." By this time, L's face had changed into one of (fake) innocent contemplation.
Raito had been looking at L before, but now he turned his head to look up at the ceiling. It always helped to think when he wasn't staring at those huge, panda-like, eyes. He really didn't know what his flaws were, in his mind, being a mega-lo maniac wasn't that much of a bad thing. Of course, in his mind, being a 'mega-lo maniac' was synonymous with 'Justice'. But Before his thoughts could come to a conclusion, they were interrupted by the clanking of a chain and jean covered thighs straddling his waist.
"Raito-kun" L whispered, his eyes lighting up like they did every time they got further on the Kira case, Raito felt a chill run up his spine. "I believe I can find out something in which you are not the best."
That was all the warning Raito got before L deigned it necessary to test out his new theory and descend his sugar laced lips onto Raito's.
----------------------
The next day everyone would why L looked so put-out as he did his research. Eventually, they assumed that today was just a bad day and L just wasn't having luck proving any of his hunches. They didn't notice the little smirks Raito would send L every time he saw L's disappointed expression.
They were at least at least partly right in their assumption, because L had found out just how good Raito was at everything.
