Confusion
A/N:This is after last night's GH:Nightshift episode. It takes place during and after Jolene saves Spinelli. Sorry it is short.
JOLENE'S THOUGHTS
Student nurse,Jolene Crowell hid under the desk with Damien Spinelli and Jason Morgan as gunshots and screams rang through the hospital. It had started out like any other night at the hospital,but then Jason had caught her trying to sneak into Touissant's hospital room with a needle to kill him. He had led her to the main floor of the hospital with the intent of turning her in. But then he had noticed something and had yelled for everyone to duck. And then the guns began firing.
She looked at Spinelli who kept looking around the corner and looking terrified. Before she knew what was happening he had took his laptop in it's case from his shoulders and darted out from behind the desk,throwing it at one of the gunmen in order to save Jason.
The gunman had fired his gun and it was coming straight for Spinelli,in that moment she had come to a descision and without another thought,she threw herself ontop of Spinelli,taking the bullet for him. She knew he wouldn't understand why she did it,considering she was supposed to be a killer. One without emotion. She had killed so many people so MedCam could take over the hospital and yet,she had saved someone. Spinelli had been sweet and innocent with the crush he had on her. Coming to the hospital to see her and visit Jason or StoneCold as he called him. He'd listened to her when she told him about her father's unnecessary death and how her mom had never forgiven the hospital because of it.
She knew that she did care for him. He had touched her so deeply...he wasn't like other guys she knew and he'd cared. The last thing she remembered before everything turned black was Spinelli holding her close,almost protectively.
SPINELLI'S THOUGHTS
Damien Spinelli held Jolene close to his chest as chaos went on around them. The smell of gun dust permeate throughout the air,people where crying,others where hurt. Jason had went to help Robin and so Spinelli sat,holding his Angel of Mercy or rather Angel of Death, His hands tangled in her hair. He couldn't understand why he still cared. He'd learned the darkest of secrets about her. She had sabotaged the hospital,she'd killed innocent people,she was the reason the elevator malfunctioned. She'd tried to kill Touissant and would have suceeded if Jason hadn't interrupted her. And yet she had jumped ontop of him to save him.
Spinelli didn't understand it in the least. Why did a part of him feel so vulnerable,still care? He felt tears on his cheeks but he did not bother to wipe them away. He couldn't.
Suddenly Regina,another student nurse rushed over torwards him and checked on Jolene. He quickly picked Jolene up and followed Regina into the ER.
Awhile later,Spinelli was kneeling on the floor again,his fist at his mouth as he thought of the night's events. StoneCold came up to him and asked if he was alright,and all he could do was wonder why Jolene had saved him when he hadn't thought she cared.
After checking on Touissant,he went to Jolene's hospital room to see her. He told her thank you for saving him all without looking at her. Then he had chanced a glance at her and she seemed so..helpless! It was hard to believe she was doing those horrible things to the hospital. So in the end he called her Fair Jolene. He couldn't bring himself to hate her fully. He just couldn't.
