A/N: So many Avatar fans focus on the romance and shippings of the show in their stories. They seem to miss the brotherly and sisterly love that exists throughout the characters. This is what this one shot is based on. Hope you like, and please review.

*O*O*O*O*O*O*

The aging, yet still passionate Water Tribe woman held onto her deceased husband's bison's reins tightly. This woman had seen everything in life; its joys and sorrows. She had loved with all her heart. She has given birth to three beautiful children. She has already become a grandmother. But, she had also seen all her friends and family die in front of her eyes. Her heart has taken it all, but her children had helped her along the way. Her poor heart couldn't take it anymore.

The snow and frost covered her nose. Despite her age, she still enjoyed the feeling of her element on her skin. The old bison landed near an igloo with a thud. She quickly jumped off his head and patted him lovingly.

"Thank you, Appa." She kissed the bison and ran into the igloo as fast as her legs could carry her.

"Katara? Is that you?" A raspy voice called from a bedroom.

"Sokka!" She cried. Tears streaked her cheeks already at the sight of her brother. She took off her coat and hugged him tightly. "Sokka." She whispered again.

"Katara." A small tear fell off his wrinkled cheek.

A voice called from behind the uniting siblings. "Hi Aunt Katara." It was Sokka's daughter, Aisha.

"Oh, Aisha." Katara smiled and walked to her niece to hug her sweetly. "And this is your husband. Hello Hakan." The young man smiled and pulled a shy four year old behind him. "Say hi, sweetie." He told his daughter.

"Hi." The girl smiled.

"She's beautiful, Aisha." Katara smiled and turned back to Sokka. "What did the healers say?" She asked her niece.

"They all said that he might not make it to tomorrow." Tears fell down her cheeks at the thought of losing her father.

"Oh, Sokka." Katara cried and sat near her brother.

"I lived a good life, Katara. I had the best sister, best friends, a beautiful wife, daughter, son-in-law, and a granddaughter. Best of all, I kept my promise to protect you." He smiled valiantly and kissed his sister on the forehead.

"What about me?" She wailed, "You can't leave me now!"

"You'll come soon. And then you can be with me, Suki, Zuko, Mom, Aang…." Her eyes widened at the thought of seeing her husband again. He had died so early. "Aisha." He called to his daughter. "Thank you for being the best daughter I could ask for." He kissed her forehead. "And you, my dear." He called his granddaughter, "Be nice to your parents." He smiled. Aisha started bursting into tears and hugged onto her father like her life depended on it. Katara followed. She cried and held onto her brother's tightly. She could hear his usually lively heartbeat slowing. His chest fell and rose tightly. His hands tightened around Katara as he struggled to keep his breath. Katara didn't dare look up from his chest. She'd go mad if she saw another loved one of hers die in front of her. She could feel his chest stop rising drastically. Her ear searched for any noise from his heart, but tried in vain. Her agile fingers grabbed his wrist to search for any sign of life, but failed.

"He's gone." Aisha whispered.

Katara kissed him once more and closed his eyelids. She cried through the entire night. The only thing that kept her happy was this one thought: I'll see you soon, Sokka.

And she did…..
