Jack didn't realize he'd nodded off until the front door opened. "Yan?"
"Last I checked. More or less."
Jack sat up and yawned. He turned to see Ianto stripping off in the entryway and was wide awake instantly. "Whoa, Tiger! You're certainly…." Jack then realized that Ianto was looking rather less randy and more drowned-rat. "Uh… you're dripping."
"Drenched, actually, I believe."
"What happened? Did you fall into the river?"
"Hardly. It's raining."
"Well, I noticed that, but… I mean, you're really…."
"There was a downburst for a few minutes. Stood no chance," Ianto said, bending to peel off his soaked socks.
"I'm sorry," Jack said contritely.
"It's hardly your fault. Unless you've been experimenting with weather control. In which case, Wales really doesn't need more rain."
"Uh, no. I just…. Look, why don't you go stand under a hot shower for a bit? I'm thinking jim-jams, tea, let me sort dinner. That'll help, right?" Jack said, crossing to – carefully – give Ianto a kiss on the cheek.
"You really don't have to apologize -"
"I'm not apologizing, I'm… uh… what's this called? The making you feel better after something stressful thing?"
"I think you're going for 'comforting'."
"Yeah, something like that. Thought it had a better name, though."
"Being a good partner?"
"I think that's it," Jack smiled. "Off to the shower with you. I'll take care of everything else."
Ianto wasn't entirely sure he wanted to leave 'everything' to Jack, but at the moment, a hot shower really sounded like paradise. By the time he stepped out of the steam to find his dressing gown and teddy bear jim-jams waiting, Ianto felt much more relaxed. He noticed that Jack had hung up his wet things to dry near the hamper, instead of tossing them all in damp. And as soon as he walked into the living room, Jack handed him a cup of tea – with just the right measure of milk.
"I ordered us a pizza for dinner. Sound good?"
"Anything would be good at the moment, but yeah, that sounds great," Ianto said with an affectionate smile. Ianto set the mug aside for a moment and pulled Jack into a hug. "Thank you, Jack, for being so considerate."
"That's the word I wanted earlier!"
"I still think 'good partner' says it best," Ianto grinned.
