A/N: A PMMM flash bingo drabble, prompt 004: Appear
Pencil scratched across paper, drawing thin lines that were as quickly erased for some deviation, alteration, a hum accompanying them. The page was full of such attempts, some rubbed away, while others had stood the test of time.
Madoka sat at a table, serious yet also enjoying herself, as she drew on the paper before her. This task wasn't that important, but she gave it her full dedication nonetheless. It meant a lot to her, and that was what counted.
The picture was of her, but...different. Wearing a dress, with frills, ribbons, shades of colors that mixed with white. She was imagining it as pinks and reds, though she only had a pencil to provide colors. She wasn't sure what to put with it, not having much experience with weapons. Perhaps a bow?
A glance up to the clock confirmed what she had expected. Her meeting with Sayaka and Mami was drawing closer, and she wanted to have this ready to show them. It was an outfit, HER outfit, for the future. It had preoccupied her mind ever since meeting Mami, since learning about Magical Girls.
She couldn't say why, but she just knew. This was how she was supposed to look, what a Magical Girl was supposed to be like. They fought for good, for the people, they were noble, pure, and that meant they had to be pretty as well. And, well, pink was her favorite color, so she couldn't be blamed for it.
As she drew, she couldn't help but think of Mami. If there was any other who could represent her ideals, her beliefs, it would be her. She was graceful, elegant, just so amazing as a whole. Madoka could only hope that she could meet such an example.
With a few more traced lines her creation was complete, the last of a few that she had drawn. Even more so than the few sheets she held were crumpled up balls of paper, rough drafts that she had discarded as inadequate. As a Magical Girl, she could only settle for her best, and these had not been the best she could do.
She stuffed the completed pictures into her backpack, and then left the room, headed for the cafe. It was time for her meeting, and she would not miss it for the world.
