Author's Note: This was originally an idea I had for a one-shot, but I decided to expand it into a short story instead (short being the key word). I'm not sure how much I will keep up with this (because my top priority in terms of fics is Savior of Love, which you should read if you haven't already. It's good, I promise) but I'll definitely continue if people give it positive reviews. PLEASE read and review...constructive criticism is appreciated, but no flames please.

Aqua Rhapsody
Chapter 1: Secret Dreams
Music had always moved her in a way she couldn't express in words. Whenever she heard a new song, no matter what style it was, her heart would swell with appreciation and a smile would work its way across her face.
Music made her feel alive inside in a way nothing else did. Not even her lifelong dreams.
Her mother had always pushed her to follow in her footsteps and become a doctor. She had dutifully done everything to accomplish that goal and was well on her way towards becoming a renowned pediatrician. After finishing high school, she enrolled at Tokyo's premier university and would be applying to medical school the following semester. It seemed her future was set in stone. She would be a doctor and she would be happy. She would be happy.
Being a doctor was what she had always wanted, yes, and she still couldn't wait to have her own office, complete with an official sign above the door bearing her name in bold, flashy letters. Mizuno Ami. She had longed and dreamed about that day for years and knew that she would be happy as a doctor. Still, a deep part of her wanted something different.
Secretly, Ami had always wanted to be a musician. She wanted to create beautiful music and inspire others. However, she knew that expressing a desire to be a musician would lead her friends to question her. They were an extremely accepting group of girls, but such a radical departure from her dreams of being a doctor would shock them. "You want to make music? That great, Ami-chan…but don't you want to be a doctor? Music is Minako and Michiru's passion, not yours!"
So, she kept her secret dream to herself. But whenever she was alone, she would turn on the radio, close her eyes, and hum along, imagining that she was creating the melodies she heard.
Her destiny was to become a doctor. But her secret dream would soon change her life, in an unexpected way.
