(A very short one-shot a wrote for a friend. She has a fascination with failed regenerations, so this was my imagining of one.)
Crumpled in the corner, she looked like a doll thrown aside by a careless child. The only thing that betrayed the life in her was the trembling of her broken body. As he drew closer, her face was revealed to him. Horror filled every cell as he saw what she had become. Where a nose once was, a sunken space remained.
But her eyes… The one of them that remained was bloodshot, silent tears filling it, as she had no strength left to sob. Two pupils overlapped, covering the bright blue iris almost completely, but not enough for the effect to be invisible. Where the other eye should have been, a hole was revealed instead.
He wanted to look away. To try and rid his mind of the image that would now haunt him. His daughter, lying, slumped on the ground. Her eye moving, as if the two pupils were at war with each other, trying to keep her vision from splitting. She was better off dead. This would only leave her screaming every time she tried to see. So, he did the unimaginable. With one final wail, she left this world for a better one. One where she would never go through this again.
The Time War was an unimaginable time that required unimaginable sacrifices. The Doctor had already watched his wife leave this life in a burst of flame. And now his little daughter... The war needed an end. And he needed an escape.
