Veronica walked until she saw the empty lonely abandon trailer in front of her. It was in the center of the run down path towards where the Jones's trailer was. "What are you doing here B?" She looked at the seated blonde.
"Why shouldn't I be here?" Betty met Veronica's eyes in the dark. A smirk crossed her lips. "After all this is the Smith trailer. The trailer where my mom was raised. Where my grandparents raised their children." She shrugged. "So why shouldn't I be here Veronica?"
Veronica stepped forward. But she didn't another step due to Betty's silent angry eyes. "It's nice." She spoke in a low tone.
Betty barked in harsh laughter. "It's a fucking trash heap Veronica. It's worse then any other trailer here at Sunnyside. Did you know that this is how it always had looked? Even when my grandparents first bought it?"
Veronica remained silent.
"I have passed this trailer so many times over the years on the way to see Juggie." Betty sighed, "I always looked at it with disgust. Disgust on how anyone could have possible made this trashed trailer home." Shaking her head. "I looked down in disgust on my own family. Unknowing … but still."
"You didn't know." Veronica softly spoke.
Betty bowed her head. "You asked what I was doing here. I came home." She lifted her eyes to meet Veronica's understanding ones. "I came home."
