Obi-Wan Kenobi looked out of the ships port window. It looked like a civil war had torn the planet into two equal pieces. A rift eating away at the center of the blue and brown orb. The Jedi Apprentice wondered what could cause a people to commit such horror against their own kind. The water planet had several large land masses created by volcanic eruptions over the centuries.

Two life forms had evolved at equal rates. One water based and the other land based. Their collective population had unbalanced everything. Refusing to move off-world, they had resigned themselves to a war in order to decide which would rule over the entire planet. Now there was nothing left to claim. The Jedi had been called to help negotiate travel for the two different races. The peace must be kept in order for all survivors to be safely evacuated. There was not time to separate based on anything other than geographical location. The ships had arrived, Obi-Wan and his master Qui-Gon Jinn on the first to land.

An entire planet - it's ecosystem and fabric - ripped apart by greed and selfishness. For the umpteenth time, Obi-Wan thanked the Force for giving him a chance to be something more than a pawn in a planetary system. As a Jedi he had a chance to make a difference, a chance to be a difference. He would do his duty and keep this planet in mind whenever his conviction wavered. The rift he had seen stretched across the dying world would never be something he would see in his own soul.
