"I'm leaving!" She called over her shoulder, as she pulled on her warm winter jacket, smiling at the downy soft feel of the fabric, as she begun on the buttons.
There was a chorus of replies, and she laughed gently to herself as she bolted out the door, slinging her bag over her shoulder as she went.
The snow crunched softly under her boots as she started down the sidewalk, an air of purpose emanating from the girl of small stature, her mouth set in grim determination.
Christmas shopping.
Her eyes narrowed as she pondered the word. Today was going to be a tough day, she decided. She had ten people she absolutely had to shop for today… and that wasn't including her friends from school, or her father and brother.
No. Right now she had ten MEN to shop for, and she was clueless of what to buy them. She had begun this month with a quiet calculation of sales, and what each of her companions would enjoy most as a gift – yet the harder she thought, the harder it became to make any decisions. She had thought the decisions would be easy – after all she had lived with them almost a year… yet she was still as clueless as she had been on December 1st.
She pulled a list out of her pocket, her brown eyes scanning the names, before landing on one.
Yes, she decided, he would be the easiest to shop for, seeing how easily he was pleased.
Number one on the list?
Toudou Heisuke.
