A/N: I'd like to thank my fan fiction mentor, chibipinkbunny, for helping me out with wording, plot, and pretty much everything else. 3 Love ya, chibi! I'm also giving a shout-out to wierdsquirrelgirl and ohjay for giving me their opinion on this. You're both awesome ^_^

We never really notice how much we change over the years. Sure, we can always see when we've grown taller, or when our friends' hair starts to lighten as the summer sun gradually bleaches it. But what about what we can't see? Like when we look over a field of newly risen flowers, and remember a time when our young eyes gazed with delight at the soft, colorful blooms? The biggest wonder of spring went from awe-inspiring to uninteresting in such a short amount of time.

Zack shifted on the uncomfortable helicopter seat, and looked through the window. Beyond the faint reflection of his teary eyes in the frosty glass, he could see the vast and frigid mountains of Modeoheim stretched before him. He blinked the excess water away.

"Never seen snow before?"

Zack looked up. It was just a cadet captain speaking to one of his charges, who seemed to be looking out the window with fascination. The cadet shook his head softly as a smile brightened his dark features.

"It never snows in Costa Del Sol."

A small half-smile flitted across Zack's face as a nearly forgotten memory floated to the front of his mind.

"Hurry up!"

Zack sped up a steep and snow laden hill as fast as he could as Angeal slowly trudged behind him. The dark haired youth kicked a pile of the soft, white substance, laughing as it created a little ball that rolled partway down the slope they were on.

Angeal chuckled. "What the hell's gotten into you?"

Zack scooped up a handful of snow off the ground and started to press it between his palms.

"I've never seen snow before. Gongaga's too hot for this stuff, even in the winter!"

The snowball in his hands was now fully formed. A deviant smile lit Zack's face momentarily before he launched the hard little ball at Angeal. The older man ducked, expecting the snowball to harmlessly fly over his head, but lost his balance and fell hard onto his rump. He let out a surprised squawk as, much to Zack's delight, he slid backwards down the hill and into a deep snow bank.

Zack chuckled softly to himself as he looked back out the window. Angeal was always anxious about taking him along to wintry places after that.

Please review everyone, it shall make my day! :D And if anyone has a better way to end this story, let me know. I'm always open to new ideas. Thanks for reading ^_^
