"I'm sorry I can't follow you Konata, but I guess you wouldn't really want me to would you?"
Kagami stared out the rain streaked window, her mind as dark and stormy as the world beyond the glass. She had been there awhile- a few hours at least- and she really didn't have the strength or presence of self to move. The universe seemed frozen to her and as the rai outside contued to fall. The purple-haired girl couldn't help but get the feeling that the world had forgotten about her for the moment. It was a kindness.

At the moment she wanted to be forgotten, wanted to forget herself and the pain that burned deep within her chest. She wanted to get away, escape to another world, another reality, where her present wasn't quite as disheartening and bleak. A time where she didn't feel like all the happiness in the world had been cruelly torn from her grasp. Kagami wanted to feel whole again. She wanted to be a complete and wonderfully cynical young woman, back on the fast track to her law degree and the perfect life with her love of six years.

She wanted to hold Konata in her arms again.

Konata with her warm green eyes and easy going nature. Konata, who seemed unshakable no matter the time place or circumstance. That small, cute, and surprisingly insightful girl that had somehow been able to slip past all of Kagami's defenses. Kagami wanted her back, she wanted her so bad that her entire body shook with the need to feel her again.

She could never do so again however, as nature had seen fit to grace her love with a sickness that could not be fought. It had been genetic, some kind of deficiency that kept Konata from aging and kept her from producing the very force needed to keep her alive. Eventgually, despite Konata's stoic attitude, it had grown to much and the small girl had just stopped.

There had been no build up. No slow agonizing trips to the doctors where they told her how much time she had left, there was never even a chance to say goodbye. One moment Konata had been there with her, laughing and joking as usual, the next Konata was falling towards the ground, her eyes blank and void of life. It had been so horrible, so unbelievable; Kagami could scarcely believe it had happened.

But it had happened.

And now…Kagami did not no what to do next.
