Guardian Angel
Based off of Tyler James Williams and Coco Jones' song from Disney's movie : "Let It Shine". Mako is Korra's guardian angel. Post finale. Korra has to go away and do her avatar duties so she has to tell Mako to set her free. Song fic.

"Korra" Mako tried to reason with me.
"Mako you know I have to go, I'm the avatar, it's my duty, I have expectations to live up to"
He only sighed.
"This is who I am, I wish you'd understand, it's time to set me free."
He turned and walked away not ready to let me go. Tenzin put a hand on my shoulder but I shook him off and stormed off in the direction of my room.
Why did he have to be acting like this? He knew that eventually I would have to leave and restore the world even more. Sometimes I thought he was as thick-skulled as me.
This is just who I am and he has to accept it one way or the other.
Mako's POV
I was being selfish. She had a duty to her people and I was holding her back. I still couldn't imagine a whole year without her. I flinched, it hurt too much.
I couldn't do this to her.
Korra's POV
I couldn't just sit around and wait for him to let me go. I headed to the courtyard to Tenzin waiting with Oogi.
"You're leaving?"
"I have to, he's holding me back" I sighed
"If that's what you want."
I heard a voice calling my name from behind. I turned around to see Mako running towards me.
"Mako…."
"I'm letting you go." He said while holding my hands
"No matter what I do I'm still a part of you."
He kissed me softly on the lips. I earthbended myself onto Oogi. He waved at me.
"My guardian angel."
