One night, Duncan was at a local bar in Toronto and he noticed a tall tan skinned girl sitting across from the counter, she was Courtney. He said to her, 'Uh, I was just wondering if you would...' She said, 'Yes?' He said, 'I don't want to blow my chance with you and my friends aren't here now to ruin it for me.

My friends are in the bathroom

Getting higher than the Empire State

His friends were getting baked in the bathroom, which helped Duncan in his situation, because when they wanted to be, they were sexist drunks. His first friend Geoff said, 'That's some good weed man, it makes feel like I'm top of the world.' His other friend Cody said, 'Give me some of that bro, I want to screw my brain cells', in which he took a handful of the plant, put it in a joint and smoked it.

My lover she is waiting for me

Just across the bar

Courtney is waiting for Duncan to return from asking the DJ to play a song, he thought would be sweet to play.

My seat's been taken by some sunglasses

He notices his other seat was taken by Dakota, a blonde girl who enjoyed her picture being taken by photographers, who had to fight her way through a shoe sale at the local mall.

Duncan looks at his watch and noticed it was 12:00 midnight, so he looked over to her and told her, 'So if you start getting hammered, I'll carry you back to my place for the night.' This really sparked something between them.

Duncan and Courtney asked each other their age and they found out they were both 20 years old. So they just let their troubles fade away and just enjoyed the night, having as much fun as they could.

Duncan noticed that Courtney was a girl that did what she could to be the best including being the girl who usually did not go out with bad boys. But Duncan wanted to change her judgment.

Right then, Geoff and Cody returned as soon as their high wore off, and Duncan noticed them come back, so he raised his glass and said, 'Cheers to a great weekend and an even better career.', mainly because he knew he had enough left for a cab tonight, just in case he got drunk.

Courtney was taking several coolers and did not realize she was getting drunk, so she had to inform Duncan.

Duncan knew he really felt something for Courtney, so he walked over to tell her how he felt as Courtney also walked over to him.

So they both told each other their feelings and Duncan did not think he was able to drive tonight, so he called his dad to get his car for him, before he called a cab for him and Courtney.

So Duncan picked Courtney up and carried her in his arms back to his house for the night.
