"Great show," Adam said, pulling a T-shirt over his head. "I had a lot of fun, this time."

Anthony just nodded in response, removed his character's black framed glasses, and sat down heavily in front of the dressing room mirror.

Having worked with him, on and off, for the past eleven years, including sharing living quarters through part of that time, Adam recognized his friend's morose behavior. Subduing a sigh, he placed a comforting hand on Anthony's shoulder.

"The last show is hard, sometimes." When he didn't get a response, he chose a more direct approach. "What's wrong?"

Anthony closed his eyes for a moment, before standing up and turning to face his friend. "I was thinking about this for too long a time. I was too scared, too shaken to do it when I left the show in the 90's – even at Rent5. Then, when the movie wrapped and after the party at Rent10, everything had become more complicated." His face had flushed, and he lowered his gaze to the floor.

Adam, confused with what appeared to be rambling, could think of nothing else to do for the moment, other than to listen. Perhaps, that was all that was needed.

"I don't want to wreck our friendship." Holding up a hand to silence reassurances, Anthony continued, "I think we both have rare, loving families; but, whether I just walk away or not, I think it's come to a point where I've got to act or I'll go insane and regret not taking this leap, despite what it may cost us both."

As Adam began to process the meaning of this obscure confession, he was being firmly kissed on the lips. It was so sudden and surprising, he felt like he was observing the kiss from the outside.

He was still in shock when Anthony pulled back, whirled, and quickly left the dressing room. The bizarre thing was that the first thing that popped into Adam's head was that Anthony was a better kisser than Tate Donovan.
