Don't know what this is, it just popped into my head. Read it and mock me. It's no masterpiece. I might start something proper based on this; I just wanna hear your views.

Eleyt shifted uncomfortably in his armour. He didn't like the waiting. It was like the deep breath before the plunge. Beside him, he saw his dwarf friend, Tumba whispering some reassuring words to his pet raptor, Gul. "It'll be alrigh', Gul. Kodo ain't tha' hard ta bring down." He turned to Eleyt. "Dunno why this 'as 'appened, Draenei. Dunno why, at all, at all..." He sighed, hauled his rifle over his back, and went to join the main line of gunmen, who were on the peak above them, Gul following. Eleyt began to sweat now, despite the bitter chill of Dun Morogh. "We're not gonna last the night." Eleyt turned to the young Human woman beside him who had spoken. "There's every chance." He replied. "I suppose so", said the pretty young woman, but the uncertainty in her voice was clear.

Before Eleyt could say anything else, the Alliance commander rode up to the front. He was a sight to see, clad in shining gold armour, broadsword on his back, and on a shining stallion. He shouted for attention. "From what our scouts have told us, there are going to be a lot of Kodo. We must hold the line! The Kodo are the main target, and they're relying on them to break through us." He turned towards the two lines of pike men. "Get into formation!" Eleyt and the other pike men lowered themselves into a kneeling position, and thrust their pikes forward. All worry had disappeared, and was now replaced with fierce determination, and a steely look in their eyes. The commander rode up to the peak of gunmen and archers. "Focus your fire! We don't want any wasted ammo! We need to conserve it all, if this goes into the night."

Suddenly, there was a rumbling; distant at first, but growing in magnitude each second. Through the mist and snow, Eleyt could make out dozens of brown and green shapes; their bellowing made them instantly recognisable: Kodo!

They were getting nearer now, and Eleyt could make out the insane, cackling Orcs and Trolls who were riding them, massive whips cracking against the Kodo's hide, spurring it to go ever faster. "Hold the line!" bellowed the commander, sword raised high above his head. They were less than 50 yards away now and moving closer still. Finally, when the Kodo's were almost upon them, he thrust upwards, the pike jabbing into the mighty beasts hide. It let out a roar of pain, and the Orc driver was struggling to hold on. Gunshots were going off all around him, disorienting him. He had only a split second to realise that the Orcs whip had somehow curled around his ankle.

Eleyt yelled as he was pulled along by the rampaging beast, now worked up into a frenzy by the blasts of the rifles. He saw the Orc take an arrow right through his heart, and he tumbled off his mount. All around him, men and women were being run down by the frantic beasts, none of them able to get a clean hit at the brutes.

It's chaos, thought Eleyt.
