"Daddy wake up Father Christmas has been." Leah screeched loudly jumping on his bed.
He groaned looking up at his daughter who looked like she was ready to burst.
"Come on, Brendan said it's time to open the presents. He's made you a coffee. Come on get up."
"Alright, alright I'm getting up."
He looked at his bedside clock and was surprised the kids had let him sleep in this late. Pulling on his dressing gown he made his way out to the living. He laughed at his boyfriend who was sitting in the ugliest Christmas jumper he'd ever seen and a Santa hat sat on the top of his head.
"What have you got on?"
"It's Christmas Steven, the best time of the year. Now come here so the kids can open their presents."
They sat back and watched as the two kids opened all their presents, every now and again they'd turn to each other a soft smile on their faces. Ste couldn't believe how much things had changed in the last week. A week ago he was getting ready to move to America with his husband, preparing for a life without Brendan. But now here he was with the love of his life spending their first Christmas together and he couldn't be happier. Sure he felt a bit guilty about leaving Doug but they both knew he was still in love with Brendan; it would always be Brendan.
"You alright?"
"Couldn't be better. I love you."
"I love ye too Steven."
"Right you've gotta open your present now."
Ste handed a neatly wrapped present over to him which contained some jeans and t-shirts that he thought would show off Brendan's body perfectly.
"Do you like them?"
"I love them, thank you." Brendan said kissing him softly on the lips.
"I've got you a little something too; well they're sort of for me as well." Brendan smirked.
He handed the first package over and Ste laughed when he seen the jumper inside. It was a Christmas jumper nearly as ugly at the one Brendan was currently wearing.
"This one if for Leah and Lucas as well."
The two kids perked up when they heard their names making their way over to the two men. Ste opened the envelope and smiled at Brendan.
"I think I owe you this one don't I?"
"Thank you, they'll love it. Guess where we are going?"
"Where?" Leah and Lucas shouted at the same time.
"Disneyland in America."
Once they had calmed down Leah came over and hugged him.
"Thank you Daddy Brendan."
Brendan was shocked that she had called him Daddy in a short space of time, he picked the little girl up and hugged her before letting her go play with her toys.
"Just one more thing." Brendan said handing Ste another present.
Ste opened it and looked confused with the object that was inside. It took him a minute to figure out what it meant but it was the best thing Brendan could have done for him.
"I've booked us a weekend back to Dublin in a couple of weeks and I thought that Ha'penny bridge would look a lot better with our padlock on it. What do you say it?
"I'd love too."
