AN: I don't own Dean Winchester, Lisa Braeden, and/or Ben Braeden!

They break the news to him slowly and carefully. But eventually the words come out. "Ben, your mother's pregnant." And then they wait.

Dean studies Ben's face carefully for any indication that he was excited, upset, mad, or even confused. But the boy remains neutral.

Ben tries to wrap his 11 year old mind around the news. A baby? Another kid in the house? A child who's not him? Ben doesn't know a life outside of being an only child! Somewhere along the line he was convinced that he was always going to be the only child in his mother's life. But now…

"You're gonna have a baby?" Ben questions his mom with only the slightest hint of utter disbelief that there was going to be a new kid in the house. And Dean doesn't miss a trick. He heard his newly adopted son stumble over the word "baby" and knew that's where the disbelief lay.

"Well, not right this very second. Baby's got nine months of growing to do before it can step foot into the world," Dean tries his best to make the situation a little comical. After all, laughter was considered some of the best medicine.

Ben turns his head to Dean and asks, "Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?"

"We still won't know for a few more months." Lisa runs a hand through her son's own head of thick, dark hair and weakly smiles. She feels like she's stepping on eggshells.

"Oh…" Ben looks down at the floor and nods. Suddenly sitting on the couch between his two parents feels awkward.

"Y'ok, Ben?" Dean asks.

"Yeah…I mean…I guess I'll be." He feels like he's going to throw up.

"You know, being a big brother is really something special," Dean says as Lisa nods in agreement. They both have either a little brother or sister to look out for. And it was, still is, something that has changed them forever.

"You get to teach your little brother or sister all kinds of different things, and they'll look up to you, always," Lisa adds/

"You'll be a hero in their eyes. No one is ever cooler than the big brother or the big sister to a little sibling." Dean nudges Ben's shoulder with his own with a smirk. It was a silent indication that there was going to be all sorts of trouble and good memories and laughs to come once the baby was old enough.

"Don't big brothers also always have to look out for their little brothers and sisters?" Ben asks out of the tales of experience his friends have told.

"That's just another perk of being a big brother," Dean says.

"But what if I don't know how? I've never been a big brother before!"

"It'll just come naturally to you, sweetie," Lisa says thinking that the need to watch out for her little sister was still a driving force in her life, even despite the fact that Lisa and her little sister live in two different states. "It's something all big brothers and sisters are born with once their little siblings come."

"But what if the baby doesn't like me?"

"Ah," Dean waves a hand, "now that's impossible. You're going to be his or her big bro! They'll annoy you, follow you around, do everything you do, and like everything you like, but they won't ever dislike you," Dean stressed.

Ben nodded taking in everything his parents were trying to get across to him. No doubt being a big brother was going to be hard and it sounded like it was definitely going to be annoying, sometimes…

"Ben? What do you think? Are you ready to be a big brother?" Lisa asked.

"…I think 11 years of waiting for a brother is long enough. What's another nine months?" Ben smirked. Oh yeah. He was definitely ready to have a little brother invade his home. As far as getting a little sister was concerned? Well…Ben felt he still needed a few more years for that.
