Will placed the heavy box down on the ground, sweat beginning to pour out of her templates.

After the battle with Nerissa, not to mention freeing the former Guardians and Elyon, Will had needed some serious money.

Bad grades, not doing chores, and mysterious disappearing had left a mark on her 'salary' at home.

Now, she has a part time job as an assistant in her friend's, Hay Lin, family restaurant, the Silver Dragon.

Will sighed, and slumped on the huge cardboard box. Time for a break.

The Keeper of the Heart of Candracar glanced around the basement, letting her eyes wander here and there.

Then something caught her eye. Three tall clay pots. Will got off her 'chair' and slowly crept towards them.

What could be inside? Treasure? Snakes? Bones? Or . . . eww, someone's ashes. But Will had to find out. She reached out and, as soon as she touched one of the pots, all three of them shattered.

And there, in the midst of the broken poultry was a scroll. Carefully, hoping that the scroll wouldn't turn to dust, Will picked one up.

It was surprisingly heavy, but then she noticed that there were many parchments rolled up and sealed within a leather lace.

Will scooped up the other two scrolls bundles. She carefully walked up the stairs, then hid the scrolls in her backpack. The better hidden these things were, the better in her opinion.

Will laid belly down on her bed, staring intensely at the three scrolls of paper. Her friends Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin were in the room with her, staring both at Will and at the scrolls.

"So you just found them?" Cornelia asked, blinking curiously at her leader.

Will sat up and picked up one of the scrolls. "It was so weird," she said softly. "There were just these three jars . . . sitting there, and then they shattered when I just touched one, and only these scrolls were there."

Irma picked up another and tested its weight. "Well," she said, "whatever this is all about, it sounds like another job for WITCH."

Taranee picked up the third one and held it up in the light. "What do you think is in these?"

"I don't know," Will said. "I plan on looking through them tonight."

"I have dance tonight," Taranee sighed, setting the scroll down. "Promise you'll tell me what they're about in full detail when you're done?"

Will smiled. "Sure thing, T. Right, guys?"

"I've got ice skating to do," Cornelia said. "I can't be here either."

"Sorry, Will," Irma apologized, but my mom and dad are going out tonight, so I have to baby-sit Chris."

"And tonight's 'All you can eat buffet' at the Silver Dragon," Hay Lin added. "I think you're lucky that Dad gave you today off."

"Yeah," Will murmured in disappointment. "Lucky me."

The others got up and turned to leave. Hay Lin paused and said absently, "Do you think those scrolls came from another world?"

Will looked from the scrolls with her eyebrows arched. "Huh?"

Hay Lin closed her eyes and shook her head. "Never mind. Just thinking out loud." She then left with the others.

Will traced the seal placed over one of the three scrolls and stared absently into space. Where did these scrolls come from is the better question to ask.
