The rain could be heard, softly thudding against her windows. The rain was…calming
Sighing, the dark-haired girl rose from her place on the bed and slipped the book she had been reading back into its place on the bookshelf.
She stood there, motionless, listening to the soft pitter-patter of the rain.
Raven sighed. The door stood less than a foot from her. She wouldn't leave though. She needed to stay. Her room was safe. Her room was…away.
She wanted to leave, wished that she could, but she couldn't. It would never be safe for her to be around people. It just wouldn't.
-Looking up into the nothingness. There was nothing there. Never anything. Always black. Just sounds, that's all there were. No pictures. No one. -
The girl jerked awake, thankful to leave the dream.
She heard something crack. Glancing over, she saw a lamp in pieces.
Groaning, she slowly stood herself up and began to pick up the pieces.
"Hey Rae!" She frowned as the changling made his way over to her. He held out a plate of Satan-knew what. "Try some!" She stared at him. 'Tofu', she managed to suppress a grimace at the thought of that…food. How could he expect her to eat this…bird food?
"No."
The boy pouted. It was very unbecoming. "C'mon Rae! Didn't your mom ever tell you to try new things?" He grinned.
'Focus!' She told herself. 'Don't lose control.' "If you have any desire to live Beastboy, you won't ever mention my mother. Ever." She left.
"And she just completely flipped!" Beastboy finished telling his story, getting in his fill of gossip.
Cyborg groaned as the boy finished. "Can you just not whine for a minute?"
"I was telling you about-"
The machine-man sighed. "Look B, every person's got a sore spot. Ya probably just found her's. I mean, I don't think Raven's had the best life."
"I guess…I should apologize?"
Cyborg nodded in agreement. "You know how she gets."
Beastboy nervously inched toward the Goth girl's room. 'She's gonna kill me.' He knocked on the door. He waited a moment then knocked again. Raven opened the door.
She was…paler…greyer than usual, if that was even possible. "Are….are you okay Rae?"
"I'm fine." But the hand resting against her head told the green boy otherwise. Before he could say anything, the door closed.
That's it for chapter one. Hopefully the other chapters will be longer. My endlessdestiny deviantart account will soon have pics for this. There's already one there. Enjoy!
