KATIE P.O.V.
I was tending to the strawberry fields in camp alone while the rest of my cabin got swords lessons from Percy. It was a nice sunny day with a few straggling clouds floating around lazily. I was just about done planting another row of strawberries when I heard giggling from the blueberry fields. Normally I would have ignored it but whoever it was just kept giggling. I walked over to ask them to stop when I stopped dead. There was the new Hades camper, Alex, tickling Annabeth. Then he stopped and leaned in for a kiss. I expected Annabeth to slap him but she put her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately. I was horrified. How would I break it to Percy? I backed away and ran to the sword arena. I expected it to be just Percy and my cabin but when I got there, I also saw Chiron and Poseidon. The latter finished saying something to the people there than vanished in a spray of saltwater. It was then that Percy turned around and saw me standing there.
PERCY P.O.V.
I was busy teaching sword fighting to the Demeter cabin. Everyone was there except Katie, which I felt a strange pang of disappointment. We had become best friends when Travis was killed by the hydra. Connor had become distant and one day just disappeared from camp, Grover was busy being god of nature, Thalia was busy in the hunt, Nico was always off talking to dead people in the underworld, and Annabeth had become strangely distant over the last month, so Katie was really the only person he had left in camp. He had just finished teaching a cool disarming trick when Chiron called from behind him "Percy, your father would like to speak to you on a very important matter." Percy turned around. Chiron was walking toward him with Poseidon beside him. "Percy, I need you to retrieve my trident. It was stolen while I was on at a meeting on Olympus. Chiron has agreed to send you on a quest with another camper of your choosing." My dad disappeared in a spray of saltwater. I turned around and saw Katie standing there.
KATIE P.O.V.
"Hey Katie. My dad's trident just got stolen and Chiron just assigned me a quest with someone of my choice. Wanna go?" I felt a flutter in my chest. "Of course!" I practically screamed.
