Reign of Fire
I was sailing on a ship,
And was feeling quite seasick,
When the captain told me "swabbie,
You better take it in your stride."
…
But then there came a roar,
And my pants were clean no more,
As a fire-breathing dragon,
Came down soaring from the skies.
…
Our archers opened fire,
But our plight was still quite dire.
Cannons were pointed upwards,
To give the dragon taste of lead.
…
But the dragon was too fast,
And it broke in two the mast.
I heard shouts and prayers and cries,
As on deck fire spread.
…
The ship was truly lost,
And I took in stock the cost.
As bodies lay around me,
On this sinking piece of wood.
…
To fight till my last breath,
Or escape a burning death?
I dived into the water,
And swam fast as I could.
…
It was a whole two days,
Before sails I appraised.
As a friendly ship came sailing,
And from water fished me clear.
…
And even to this day,
I cannot truly say,
That the sound and sight of fire,
Does not fill me with fear.
