The two blondes faced one another, in the hall outside the meeting hall. It was almost uncanny how alike they looked; both with short-cropped blonde hair, both with androgynous facial features, both with wiry, masculine physiques. They were both the same height as well – six feet, one inch tall. Both being the same age of twenty, they could be been twin. In fact, they were, though no-one knew it. There were few things which differed one from the other, but those few things were rather noticeable.
One had eyes of sapphire, the other of emerald. One dressed as a priest, the other in a navy suit, white dress shirt, red tie, and black dress shoes. And most important of all, one was an elite assassin of Iscariot, while the other was the elite of the human elite of the Hellsing Organization.
"Vell, it certainly has been a long time," the blue-eyed twin spoke. Her German accent was slightly thick, and her voice was a soft alto. The green-eyed and elder of the twins merely regarded her, slipping her hands into the pockets of her suit pants. Then, she spoke. As she did so, she eyed the cigarette her younger sister smoked as if she wanted one as well – of course she did, but wouldn't request.
"Yes it has, Heinkel." Her words were somewhat subdued. Her voice rang at an alto pitch just slightly lower than Heinkel's, and her English accent was lighter than the assassin's own German. Noting her sister's unwavering gaze, Heinkel slipped a hand into her pocket and withdrew her lighter and a pack of cigarettes,. She offered the green-eyed woman both silently. The elder twin took both items, and with the ease of a practiced smoker – something else the two had in common – lit up. Returning the packet and lighter, she offered Heinkel a crooked smile, which the younger mirrored.
Pocketing the aforementioned items once more, Heinkel murmured, "You know, you could haf just asked, Amara. I vould haf given zem to you villingly, you know zat." Amara merely shrugged, relaxing slightly as the nicotine filled her system. She murmured her thanks, and the twins then shared a moment of companionable silence, as they smoked together.
For that moment, all religious scruples were forgotten. Even as their employers shouted across the negotiation table. Even as a boy from Millennium got his head blown off, when the Major declared war. Even as the elder twin's boss/lover and co-worker were given their orders to destroy Millennium from the English Queen. Even though they knew they could face one another across the battlefield at any time – and probably would, in the future. None of that mattered at present.
For only one moment, in the chaotic world they lived in, the two could be nothing more than Amara and Heinkel, a pair of sisters who would have died for one another without a second's thought.
A/N: Yeah, another random one-shot, and this one for Hellsing. It struck me while watching the OVA's how creepily alike Heinkel and Haruka are… In short, I just couldn't resist. Also, I used Haruka's English name because it fit better. Well, tell me what you all thought; there isn't enough Heinkel fanfiction for my taste – nor enough Hellsing/Sailor Moon crossovers, either.
See you all next time!
~Haru.
