Keep Me Warm A/N:Welcome readers to my first story on fanfiction- "Keep Me Warm".
This chapter is only the prologue so I apologize for it being so short but I promise my chapters will never be like this.
And also it would be great if you could leave a review. I would be delighted to read your thoughts and advice. Anyway, I hope you'll like the story.
Sam Uley leaned against his kitchen wall while staring at the phone he had just put down. He rested his face in his rough hands and let out a heavy sigh. Sam had never felt so sad and stressed in his whole life.
"Who was that Babe?" Sam's girlfriend Emily asked as she approached him from behind and slowly wrapped her arms around his hard stomach.
Sam pivoted around to see Emily's beautiful face and also to find comfort for himself. He heaved another sigh to steady himself.
"It was the hospital...Lilian passed away this morning." He told her softly, removing his hands from his face and placing them around her small waist.
Although Emily had been expecting this news for a while now, she was still shocked and could feel all the colour drain from her face.
"Oh no," she whispered "What about Gabby? Is she alright?"
"I doubt it. I think we're going to have to take her in Emily. She's got no one left." Sam sighed, feeling terrible for his sixteen year old niece.
"Of course. She can stay with us for as long as she wants." Emily said as she reached forward and tenderly pecked him on the lips.
Sam couldn't bare to even think how Gabby would be feeling right now. She was only sixteen and had already gone through so much pain and loss. At the age of seven, both of Gabby's parents had died after a horrific car accident. From that day, Gabby had lived with her grandmother (Lilian) who had now just passed away after a long battle against lung cancer. With no other family left except for Sam and his mum who was in to poor of condition to look after her, Sam and Emily would have to take her in.
"We should drive up to Florida as soon as possible Em. Gabby needs us." Sam stated as he gently rubbed his hands up and down Emily's back.
"Definitely," she replied, resting her head on his hard chest, "I guess we should bring her back to La Push after the funeral as well."
"What if she doesn't want to live with us?" Sam worried.
Sam knew that his niece was not the little girl she used to be. Gabby had had it tough and for the past couple of years, she had been heading on a downwards spiral.
"She's got no choice Sam, we can't let her live with a boyfriend or her friends. Imagine the situations she'd get herself into. She needs to come here and she needs some good influences and a happy environment. It'll be good for her, she'll be away from the constant partying, under aged drinking and god knows what. We'll look after her, the boys will help." Emily tried to reassure him.
Her words had made Sam feel a lot better and he loved her for it. Emily always made Sam feel better of himself. She was amazing for him.
"You're right Emily, you're always right." He half smiled. "What would I do with out you?"
Emily returned his half smiled and rose on the balls of her feet. She warped her arms around his neck and pressed her longing lips against his warm ones.
"We can get through this." She said in between kisses "I love you."
