Settle

We always knew she would leave as soon as she got the chance, that chance came to soon. She was happy where she was, she didn't know that she had become the type of person she hated, the type of person that settles. She hadn't realized that she had settled, until he came. He said they had chemistry even if she didn't want to admit it. So she left that town, with that guy to pursue her 'music career' or so she claims, she left because she realized she had settled, and she wasn't ready to be a wife, and he could give her something she never had, a chance out of that town.

So here she is two years later, in a shitty one-bedroom apartment, not even a high school diploma, or a music career show that she had earned it. She didn't have the guts to send him the divorce papers, she didn't have the courage to go back and face him and everyone else in that town that she ran from. She didn't go back because she didn't want to settle, she wouldn't let herself. So she stayed with a guy who didn't really love her, they didn't know enough about each other to love one another. Stayed with a guy who hurt her saying that no one would want her, no one but him. But she would wondered late at night, under the covers feigning sleep so she wouldn't have to confront him, if maybe she would've gone back sooner, maybe if she never would've left, maybe he would still want her. Maybe that's why she never sent him the divorce papers, if she never sent them she can pretend he still wants her and that everything's ok, but it isn't. She hasn't felt wanted, let alone loved in a long time, she doesn't remember what its like to be happy and carefree. She didn't want to settle, even though unbeknownst to her, she has.
