To Seek An Adventure
Hermione Granger hummed as she walked outside of her small, black and dark grey stone cottage given to her best friend, Harry. She would not come close to devouring all of the food in the basket in her right hand, but she hoped that her neighbors would join her on her tour around the small ancient Village de Noir and the neighboring woods, Bois De Noir. She hoped that the day would be full of adventure.
Last night, she had sent Andromeda a letter last night inviting her and five-year-old, Teddy Lupin. They lived in a cottage in the village as well. The other home in the village was a large manor home.
Hermione smiled when she saw Andromeda's small black owl flying towards her. She took the letter gently off Reggie's leg. She frowned as she read it. Andromeda had regretfully turned down the invitation due to Teddy being ill.
Discouraged, but not foregoing her plans of adventure, she continued walking on the stone path towards the woods behind her home. She encountered her neighbor, another best friend, Draco, who was hovering lazily above ground on his broom.
In greeting, she coyly said, "I shall never understand the appeal of flying just to get high off the ground, you know."
Draco shrugged before he jumped off the broom hovering six feet from the ground. She squeaked in fear that he would be harmed. He landed safely on his feet with the broom in his right hand. "I shall never understand your obsession with Hogwarts, A History especially since we are quite removed from Hogwarts."
She harrumphed as she placed her left hand on her left hip. "That is quite different, Draco. I'll have you know..."
"Yes, Granger," Draco drawled. "I know. We've had this conversation many times." He walked toward hers to give her a one sided hug. "What do you have in the basket?"
"Food."
"Yes, I can smell that.".
"Why do you have a basket of food headed into the woods? If you're trying to pretend to be that Red Walking Hood that Teddy read me the other day..." He realized that she was laughing at him. "What?"
She gently corrected, "Red Riding Hood."
"Yes, her." He shrugged. "Seriously, though, what do you have planned today?"
"An adventure." Hermione whispered, conspiratorially. "Do you want to join?"
He retorted as his lips formed a half-smirk. "Every day is adventure with you, Granger."
"That isn't an answer."
"Hermione, I'll join you."
Author's Note:
Word Count - 412. The Album Drabble Challenge indicated that the word count be the amount of words for the track length plus or minus ten words. The track S.E.X from the Nickelback Album, Dark Horse, is 3:52. I barely was able to arise to this particular challenge. It was incredibly difficult to meet the word count for this one. Good news, though, is that this drabble has created a plot bunny for a multiple chapter Dramione story. Expect me to begin to post it soon.
