AN: Ok we all know this but I will say it anyway… no I do not own HP… If I were Jo I would not be here writing this "prequel" I would be busy writing the actual one and the encyclopedia. I also do not own any of the lyrics in this fic. Those belong to Augustana ("Boston") and Hoobastank ("The Reason").
"Lily, you wanted to talk to me?" James said, as he walked into Lily's flat. It had been three months since they had graduated from Hogwarts and they had been seeing each other in secret.
"Hey James, come on in." She sniffed as she looked around the room filled with boxes.
"Are you going somewhere?" He asked taking in the sight.
"Yeah… that's what I wanted to talk to you about… James I am leaving. I cant take it anymore. I hate being known as "the girl who escaped you-know-who." All of the
rumors… the press knocking at my door constantly… the fan letters… the hate mail… I am sick of it. I have to get away." Lily whispered, looking out of the window.
"Where are you gonna go? I mean, you cant just pack up and leave, can you?" James asked moving towards her.
"I think I'll go to Boston. There is a small magic community out there. I think I'll start a new life, and start it over where no one knows my name. I am going to get out of England. I'm getting tired of this weather… Boston…" She nodded her head a few times before looking at him. "I'm getting tired. I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind. I need a sunrise; I'm tired of the sunset. Get rid of this rain… some snow would be nice."
"Lily… You don't have to leave the country for that. Just think of all the good things for you here. I know its hard right now, since Voldemort killed your family and closest friends, but you can work through that here—" Just don't leave me.
"James, you don't know me… you don even care. You don't know me! Yu don't wear my chains! You have no clue what it is like for me… you don't know how much pain I am in." she told him, as tears filled her eyes, threatening to spill over.
"Your wrong…" he said quietly, looking away from her.
"What?" she sniffled.
"You heard me. I said you are wrong, Lily Mae Evans. I do care, and I have cared for a long time. Lily, I love you and I won't let you go through this alone. I'm not a perfect person. There are many things I wish I didn't do, but I continue to learn. There is a lot of this I didn't mean to do to you. And I want you to know that I have finally found a reason for me to change who I use to be. A reason to start over new. The reason is you.
"I am not going to let you go to America alone. I love you and if you want to leave I will leave with you. I refuse to lose you. Not now or ever." James confessed, silent tears running down his face. He looked at Lily and saw that her face wore a matching set of tears.
"Thanks James." She said as she leaned in to place a perfect, salty kiss on his lips.
