So this is my first fanfiction, it's just a one-shot but BlackButterflyPrincess recommended using a one-shot to get my feet wet (so to speak). Hope you like it; and I look forward to any comments. Enjoy.

I have been around for a very long time, I have seen my sons grow together, and I know that they share a tremendous bond. So many people ask why Loki can get away with what he does, why he is always forgiven. These people do not understand the bonds that can be formed over the course of centuries. Thor loves his brother Loki more than the human mind can really comprehend.

When you have spent hundreds of years with someone, especially when you are as close to that person as Thor is to Loki, the bond will inevitably change to something more. I doubt that either of my sons would ever admit it, but they are not complete unless they are together. They have fought side by side for centuries, and saved each other's lives countless times. Even in humans this type of situation can create a special bond, but to add that to the bond of brothers, and then extend it by centuries...I think you will start to understand Thor's feelings for his brother.

Despite recent events Loki is not evil, he was distraught, and having found he was that which he had been raised to hate, attempted to cement his place in our hearts the only way he could think of. There is something that I do not believe he realized, his place in all of our hearts was already assured. He had no need to prove himself to us. He is my son, he is Thor's brother; we all love him as dearly as if he was our flesh and blood.

After the events on the bifrost Thor was inconsolable, losing himself in combat training to avoid time to think I believe. Not only was he separated from his woman Jane, but he also lost a brother. I am sure that Loki will find his way back to us eventually, but until then not even Heimdall can assure us of his good health. With Loki missing in this way I saw again in Thor just how much he cared for his brother as it was like he was missing an integral portion of himself. My heart went out to him, and I wanted so dearly to tell him everything would be ok.

I am growing weary, and I wish to pass on the burden of kingship, but as always the needs of Asgard must come first, that is why Thor was put through the trials that he was, and that is why the trials to both of them continue. One day they will be ready to rule, together as brothers, just like I intended.

Until that day I wait.
