"Um, Winry?" I took her hand and led her outside. "Ye—Yes Edward?" She raised an eyebrow. We fell silent for a minute.
"This is really hard for me. I've been practicing." I paused. "On… Al." I sat down in the grass, Winry sat down next to me.
She winced, "Do I really wanna know about this?"
I jumped up. "No, not like that!" I sighed, sitting back down. "Wait, where was I?" He stared at me in the eye. "Okay. Umm, well. I found some straw in the backyard and I… transmuted it into a ring. And I know I haven't always been the best friend, but I realized something last night. I realized that I love you, Winry. So... if there's still some place in your heart for me..."
Winry kept quiet, just listening to me.
"You took my heart… of stone... and made me feel human again." I bent down on one knee and took out the ring. "So here I am, down on one… automail… knee." Winry widened her eyes.
I stopped, looking down at my feet. "Asking you to be… Mrs. Edward Elric." I suppressed a sigh.
She looked at me playfully. "Gosh Edward, it's about time! I thought you'd never ask..." She paused. "So… Um… Me and Al already hooked up, sorry." She smiled sympathetically. "I'm just kidding! Of course I say yes!"
I got up and hugged her tightly. "Thanks Winry." I smiled.
"I love you."
