Note: A sequel to Crash Into Me - although it a little more introspective on Yoko's side than the last one. My attempt to get SOMETHING up before school starts up again and my life is swallowed by other work. I don't know how happy I am with it though. I'll let you decide. Also, I am going to try to get a ShizNat up sometime in the future (hopefully before Christmas haha) so keep your eyes peeled for that. Standard spell checked through.
True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked. - Erich Segal

It had been 2 weeks. 14 days. 336 hours. And not a single phone call or email from Sei. Yoko had half expected this to happen. After all, Sei had not promised her anything; it was simply her way to come and go. So when Yoko found the single white rose on her desk, the metaphor was not lost on her. She found Sei leaning against her Volkswagon smirking as Yoko approached her.
"Witty, Sei. Very witty."
"I thought you might like it. Do you accept my invitation to dinner?"
--
How Sei even discovered the restaurant, Yoko would never know. Tucked away into long and winding city roads; an elegant restaurant stood atop one of the tallest buildings in the city. The view was breathtaking and romantic all at once; the sort of place one would take a lover. Yoko had to admit, Sei really did know how to outdo herself. She then found the hair on the back of her neck bristling when Sei settled next to her looking out against the city scape, voice husky, "I love it up here, I feel like I can almost touch the stars if I just try hard enough" She stretched her hands out, as if to illustrate her point. Sei was bathed in a sea of light, and Yoko thought she had never looked any better.
They passed dinner in a douse of camaraderie, their small touches belying any platonic conversation they might have had. Somehow their fingers always lingered a little too long to pass the wine or salt. Yet trepidation washed over them both and neither made any mention of the attraction to the other.

When they finally reached her apartment, Sei shut off the engine. "What kind of a date would this be if I didn't walk my date to the door" was the answer to the quirked eyebrow.
The walk to the door suddenly seemed longer as Sei's hand was nonchalant in brushing against hers. When they finally made it to the door, Yoko made the pretension of fiddling with her purse trying to find her keys. To her the silence was deafening, and Yoko could not meet Sei's eyes for fear of finding the answers to the unspoken questions. When she at last found her keys she jingled them hoping that this was at least what she hoped was a last glimmer of a feasible escape. She didn't have to be the brave one after all. Then she made the mistake of looking up and she knew there was no quitting now.
They looked at each other a long time, neither able to look away. Sei unconsciously licked her lips and Yoko felt something primal awaken in her at the action. Knowing full well that the inevitable was about to happen, Yoko closed her eyes and allowed herself for once to go with it, shutting off any internal protest as her lips met Sei's.

"I'll call you in the morning okay?" Smiling as she drove off, not realizing that they were well past midnight.
It was in fact two days before Yoko got a phone call from Sei. She smiled.
Well, nobody's perfect.
