"You can do this…" Danny squeezed her hand tightly. Mindy tried to relax, but then she was hit hard by another contraction. "Ow, son of a bitch!" she screamed.
"Dr. C, they're almost a minute apart," Morgan informed him. "No way she'll make it to the hospital in time!"
Duncan stepped forward. "Excuse me, I've had things under control here."
"Yeah, well you're relieved of duty, pal," Danny said, shoving him away. "This is my girl, my kid. Wanna help? Block any views!" Duncan rolled his eyes and stood behind him, following orders.
"Danny, you're not serious?" Mindy yelped. "I can NOT have a subway baby!"
"Babe, I'm sorry," he shook his head, "I don't think we've got a choice here."
"Ok, people back it up!" Morgan shouted. He opened up his arms, walking forward to move all the gaping patrons back. He grabbed Tamra and Beverly and pushed them in front of Danny's crouched form, beside Duncan. "You're a human shield! Don't let any eyes beyond where you are!"
Aside from all the chaos around them, Mindy couldn't care less. It was just her, Danny, and their son. "Mindy, you're at ten," Danny told her. "He's not waiting anymore, you've gotta push."
She groaned through her teeth as she fought through the pain. "Oh, God this hurts even worse!" she moaned. "I know it does, but you're doing great!" Danny comforted her. "Shut up!" she snapped.
"Damn, if this doesn't make TODAY, I don't know what kind of news is news," Tamra grumbled. "I heard that, bitch!" Mindy yelled. "You got this, Min!" Morgan cheered, squeezing her shoulders. "Don't touch me!" She barked, swatting him away.
"Oh man, his head's there." Danny updated, his voice edged with disbelief and excitement. "You're almost there, Mindy! Keep going!" "God dammit! God damn your stupid junk!" She screamed. "Aaaaaooooww, why did both our heads have to be so big?!"
Suddenly, a baby's cry filled the subway's humid air. The surrounding patrons burst into applause.
"He's here..." Danny wrapped their baby boy in his jacket and held him out to Mindy. "He's here, Min, he's here." She took her son in her arms and stared down at him in amazement.
"Oh my God," she murmured. "I did it." "Yeah, you did!" Morgan blubbered over her shoulder, glancing a peek at the new arrival. "Told you," Danny smiled, tearing up as he watched the woman he loved with their child.
"I love you." he said to her intently. Mindy looked back up at her fiancé and leaned over to brush her lips across his.
