A/N: Well, this little gem popped into my head, and I had to write it down. Enjoy!
Worth It
History of Magic is widely accepted as Hogwarts' most boring class. It was taught by a ghost, and you would think it would be interesting, first-hand experience and whatnot. But anyone who thought so had obviously never met the ghost in question, one Cuthbert Binns.
Professor Binns was the proud owner of the unofficial 'Most Soporific Teacher Award', created by the Weasley twins.
It was during one such class that our story takes place.
-z-
Harry Potter was doodling on a piece of parchment, as usual, when an admittedly brilliant idea came to him.
He leaned over the desk, and poked Ron with the sharp end of his quill.
"Ow! What the hell was that for!" Ron whispered furiously.
"I bet you five Galleons I can make Binns end class early," Harry whispered back.
You could practically see Ron thinking. On one hand, five Galleons was one-fifth of his life savings. On the other, the chances that Harry would win were slim to none.
"Deal."
Harry smirked.
"… And Ragnok the LVII stole Bearclaw's sword," Binns droned.
"Excuse me, sir, but why did Ragnok steal the sword?" asked Harry.
"Um, he was greedy, Mr. Perkins," replied Binns.
"Why was he greedy?"
Binns complexion turned pearly. He looked slightly constipated.
"I – I-…" he stuttered. "I don't know!"
Binns burst into tears, turning and gliding through the blackboard.
Harry smirked.
"You win, mate," said Ron, an awed expression on his face.
Well, thought Ron, I lost five Galleons. But that was totally woth it!
A/N: Review! Sorry it's short.
