I wrote this poem for a poetry slam we had during my senior year of high school. It did not win but I did make it to the finals. I wrote about Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly since I love it so much. This poem is in the point of view of Sae Kurosawa. Her story is so sad; I just had to write about it.
A Crashing Utopia

All that I once knew now falls
Gently between my fingers
There is not any chance to look back
My destiny has been chosen
My life to be taken, thrown into the abyss
The deed to be done by my own reflection
I would have fallen gladly
Our birth was for this purpose
But I follow my shadow, deep into the foliage
Circling into the disappearing path
I never thanked my cherub for showing us the way
My shadow calls, but I cannot see
When I fall, my familiar is gone, vanishes
Forced back to the place I once called home
Now hell
I knew my reflection would return for me
We promised every step would be the same
Now it is only I
The cold claw enclosed around my light
Descending me to dark
I feel the fool's heart beating within me
My other half never returned
Shoved deeper, underground
The burning stream comes from my eyes
Air becomes hard to replace due to the pressure
Of the twine forced around my throat
My limp body is carried by the blind
Who have sewn closed the gates of their light
Falling… falling…
No one to catch me
My loved reflection is gone
Our paths never to be the same
Alone forever…
The giver of my life is to blame
Dearest father
All will pay
You know I wasn't supposed to die this way
The truth drives me further into insanity
Again I see the others, veiled faces
My existence is anew
Don't attempt to hide
Don't run away
I laugh at the dripping rubies
I laugh, now you feel as I felt
Red… crimson… such as the ring around my neck
It hurts, but not as you will
You will not be able to move
I remember the promise I made with you, my flesh, my blood
My rage revives and my insanity blinds me
My cherub's life took his own
It's our fault
Why must you cause my soul pain as such?
Why do you run when I call for you?
Do these crimson stains frighten you?
Because of you everyone has died
Dear sister, are you leaving me again?
I kept waiting and waiting
And I will continue to wait until we are together again
Together… forever…
