Logan threw his hands in the air and smacked them against the wall in frustration.
"Why would you do that? I told you I would talk to Murdoch myself! You didn't have to go and do it for me! I am not a child, Julian!"
"Well, now that's a surprise to me," Julian sneered. "You don't hand in your work on time, you always leave new students to find their own way around the school and you don't even take your fucking medication! What kind of a prefect are you?"
"Oh, you are insufferable! Why didn't you just pack up and leave like you planned?"
"Well, maybe because somebody literally begged me to stay! I was perfectly happy packing my bags and leaving this hell hole of a school," Julian retorted, sending a glare at Logan's back. "Fine. If you want me to go, I'll go. You already know I'd do anything for you, why not just make it worse for me?"
Logan continued standing with his fists and head against the wall. He finally sighed and turned around, to find he was alone. Julian had left him.
"Oh, Jules," Logan muttered, sinking into a sofa. "Damn you and your stupid words."
When Julian didn't return to apologise after an hour, like he normally did, Logan started to feel slightly worried. Picking up his bag, a small pill bottle fell out and rolled across the floor. Logan bent down to pick it up.
"Oh, why not. If it'll make him happy..." Logan popped two of the pills and swallowed them dry with a grimace. Slinging his bag over his shoulder, he rushed out of the room to find Julian.
Julian wasn't in the common room, the drama or music rooms, study room, or the coffee room. Logan was about to give up when Derek came running through the door looking flustered.
"Logan! Thank God, I've been looking for you where have you been? Not that matters. Look, why's Julian leaving?" Logan froze.
"What do you mean, he's leaving?" Derek shifted uncomfortably.
"Well it's just, I went up to his dorm before and all of his stuff was gone. When went looking for you, I think I saw him walking near Windsor, round where... where the art building used to be." Logan's eyes grew.
"Derek, I have to go. I'll be back. We'll both be back," and he sprinted out of the room to find his friend.
As he got closer, Logan walked quietly until he saw Julian sitting in the grass, staring at a place hovering above the pathway opposite him. Logan went and sat next to him, but Julian barely shifted his gaze.
"Jules," Logan said quietly, placing a hand over Julian's. "I'm sorry for what I said, and what I did. I should have thanked you for talking to Murdoch. Hell, it means I didn't have to face him, and that's fantastic. And I... I took my meds." Julian finally looked up, straight into Logan's slightly hazy eyes. "For some reason, I can still feel something when I'm 'round you. God forbid I ever find out why." Julian sighed and looked back at the space.
"I've stayed forty eight days longer than I originally planned. Forty eight days ago was the worst night of everyone's lives, but for me, it was also the best." Julian put his head in his hands. "Forty eight days ago was the first time you kissed me. Here, after everyone had left after that hell night, you told me that everything would be okay. And then you kissed me. And I will never forget." The two boys sat in silence, remembering.
"Don't leave," Logan said. "Please."
"I couldn't."
