Title: A Victim of Time

Author: CatherineWillows, soon to be lovelyaddie

Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters. They are the precious brainchildren of Shonda Rimes.

Timing is everything. There is a time to love and be loved; there is a time to stand up for what you believe in and there is a time to step back and take a look at your life - capture every single detail.

It waits for no man, and you never know when you'll be a victim of time.

Callie and George O'Malley were heading home after a night out to dinner. They held hands and swung arms like a couple in high school. As the entered the crosswalk an SUV came speeding towards them out of nowhere.

"CALLIE!!!" George screamed. With a split second to think, he ran and pushed her out of the way. She instinctively put her right arm out and rolled onto her side as she came in contact with the hard asphalt.

She heard tires squeal and a horrendous thud followed by the screech of tires as the car raced off down the street.

"GEORGE" Callie screamed as she ran towards his body. She cradled his face in her palm, and gently stroked his cheek. "George, baby, please wake up."

His eyes fluttered open. "Callie? I can see the most beautiful light. Can you see it?"

"Don't move, just stay with me, baby. Look into my eyes okay? Look at me."

He focused in on her face and caressed her face with his hand. 'I love you Calliope Iphigenia Torres, forever and a day."

"Don't talk like that." She said, tears streaming down her face, "Fight for me okay? Fight for us. George…GEORGE"

He slipped into oblivion. Callie kissed his lips and buried her face into his shoulder, waiting for help.

Everything else was a blur.

A bystander called 911 and an ambulance was there within minutes. She rode with him in the ambulance as they struggled to keep him alive. Next thing she knew, she was sitting in the waiting room, the Chief entered and told her the seven words nobody should ever have to hear.

"I'm sorry, we did all we could."

There was too much damage – they couldn't repair the organs, and he bled out internally.

Callie just sat there, in a catatonic state. She stood up and looked out the window. She had a broken wrist and numerous scratches on her arms and face, but refused medical treatment. She wasn't ready for any of this, so she detached herself from everything - time didn't exist.

"Addie, it's Richard. I need you down here right away. There's been an accident."

---

"Callie?" said a familiar voice.

She turned around to stand face to face with her best friend.

The sympathy in her eyes brought everything flooding back. The accident, their last words…the thoughts swirled around her head just before she collapsed. Addison jumped and caught her just before she hit the ground. She gently laid her down and positioned her onto her side.

"Callie. Callie? sweetheart wake up," she said as she brushed her hair off of her face. "This isn't good. Richard, get me the portable fetal monitor. I need to get a look at this baby."

Feedback is appreciated. Please remember that this is my first fic in a couple years, so be nice… Should I continue?
