A short no-ship-involved drabble I wrote around an hour ago.
This goes to my friend, Esdee Dulay.
You Are Here
Imagine for a second that you are here just to make everyone laugh.
You're here because you lighten the mood. Because you look like an idiot most of the time. Because you ask the questions no one else asks. Because you do the things that probably most people would do, but won't do anyway because they won't look good doing it.
You're the third wheel. Always, always the third wheel. Sure you have a lot of friends, but sometimes you feel like you have none. You go to different groups, realizing that you were better with the ones you just left, so you go around in circles. Your best friend ... they have this connection that you don't understand. Sure he's still your best guy, but sometimes you're not sure he'll choose you over her anymore.
You're the middle child in the family. Well, one of them t least. But you're the youngest son. You're two older brothers are hardly ever around. Your next brother hates your family. Your twin brothers are completely hopeless, so it's up to you to protect your little sister. Other than that you have to take the blame for your brothers every once in a while. It's a fucked up life, but you're used to it.
You try approaching people. But then someone steals them away. You try to have other close friends, but it seems like there's some wicked force, gravity maybe, that makes him drift farther from you. Ll you ask is someone who'll be there for you. Just once, someone will be there for you except the other way around. And yet, the people you expect to be there aren't, and the least people you expected to cheer for you did.
And you think back on your life. Maybe you are just here to make everyone laugh. You have no special talents after all. Nothing so much to brag about. You don't have amazing code cracking-skills. You don't have a way with creatures. You don't have the passion to serve the people. You don't have a businessman's mind and vision. You don't have fantastic brain memory. You don't have outstanding courage.
But there is one thing. You're so good at making people smile. There's also this ... this person you have underneath that freckly skin, who doesn't show himself so much. That person who cares a lot about people. Who would wish other people their happiness rather than his own.
Maybe you are here to make this world laugh. To ease all the tension.
Maybe that's what I'm here for.
Oh, by the way.
I'm Ron Weasley.
