Indecisive

by Complete Synch

He's not sure what he's supposed to say. Yes? No? Maybe?

He finds himself squirming under her gaze, shifting uncomfortably while his eyes dart side to side hoping the answer will appear out of thin air.

He wants to say the right thing, he really does, and it's not just because if he doesn't she'll probably try to cut him in two, okay maybe it's a bit of that too, but the main reason is he doesn't want to let her down.

He doesn't know where this new found revelation has come from, where this sudden urge to meet her expectations have come from, but he doesn't want to disappoint her.

The way she says it makes it seem like it's the most obvious question in the world, "Do you remember me?" Four words.

That's all it is, but still he struggles for an answer, scrambling through his scattered memories he tries to recall if he's ever seen her.

With stormy grey eyes and honey blonde curls she's a striking image, and he's sure he would've remembered, but she's just not there.

He wants to say that he remembers, but somehow he knows she'll see straight through the lie, so he just mumbles, "No."

He wants to say he's sorry, but sympathy doesn't seem to be the right card to play with her, so he waits for her to grab her bronze knife and start hacking him up, invincible or not he doesn't think it will stop her.

Instead she just stands stony faced, and he takes that as his invitation to leave.

As he trudges back to the Romans he can't help but feel defeated and when he glances back to see her disappear into the woods he can't help but think she's defeated too. So who won?

So, this is a companion fic (drabble?) to Solitude.

You'll still get it if you haven't read Solitude but it'll probably make more sense if you do.

Big shout out to xxxxEPICxxxx, apophenia13, HappyAce88, Abigail Thalia La Rue, The Wisdom of Me and meeeethegr8 who reviewed, alerted or favourited my stories or added me to their author alert list.

Means sooooo much to me and inspires me to write.

Have two one-shots in progress, one about Thalia and the other Nico. Tell me which do you want more, just review or PM if you want.

So, yeah... review, fav, alert please! CC much appreciated!
