Disclaimer: I do not own Yugioh
Warnings/Notes: Just a little insight.
Note: Thoth: Egyptian god of wisdom.
To wield a millenium item is both a privilege and a burden. It is through a quick and cruel test of fate that you are deemed worthy to be granted gifts no mortal should ever know of. They can either strengthen or destroy ones will, outline or crush ones hopes. However, when the day is done, no matter the outcome, win or lose, he who has held this dream's light in the palm of his humble hand is at the mercy of those greater than himself. He who is granted the power of self-assurance through spiritual belief sees, feels, and thinks only what they want him to. It is a matter of testing a human's level of common sense and compassion, a way of weighing a man's sins. The items themselves are still just a test, they do nothing to grant one power, mankind can abuse their ability all they want, they can fail and drag the world down with them, it is just the way of imperfect life after all.
For centuries people would come and go, the world and transcends of time would pause for a moment and life would end and begin anew. The gods soon reached an understanding, no mortal man could wield a millenium item; such methods of testing a human's richeousness could belong to the gods alone. The items were bestowed to those who had already moved on to the afterlife once. From then on the items were given to reincarnates of souls who had grown to fully understand their purpose in the balance of life.
All of that changed with one man. Pegasus Crawford had been different than any before him, trust was granted to a mortal man one last time, a guardian handed down to him the millenium eye at the will of Thoth. In due time the man grew to master it, abuse its power, as it is nature's way, and lose it by some cruel twist of fate. It was by the man's own will, however, that he was able to read people's hearts, minds and souls without such an item at his disposal, it was by his own will that some characteristics of divinity leaked and absorbed into his artistic mind. This man was a phenomenon is ever there was one.
The god's soon brought the man and the guardian together, fate had intertwined their souls so quickly that the divine ones themselves had almost not taken note of it. Together the two men talked and grew to understand that the items must vanish from the earth, for that to happen mankind would have to endure great triumph, and great sorrow. Shadi and Pegasus watched this war of the worlds unfold, something told them that all was not right them Atem traveled back to where he supposedly belonged. They looked to one another but did not speak words of doubt regarding the fate of their acquaintance. What was meant to happen had happened.
At the time of the rise of a new hero, one who was to walk on earth in the footsteps of Atem, both the guardian and the mortal turned to one another and in silence agreed.
The boy didn't have a chance.
