IMPORTANT AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is an original song I wrote. It cannot be used without my permission. If you want to hear it sung, look up Stargirl6024 on youtube and you'll find it under "Man Out Of Time (The Captain America Song)" Sorry For being off pitch- I'm getting sick :( Enjoy!
Steve sat at the piano bench in Stark Tower, fingering the smooth black and white keys. It had been so long since he'd played, but he needed something to make him relax. Hesitantly, he pressed the middle C. It was perfectly tuned. He started to play, a melody floating through his mind, and he began to sing:
"Sometimes I wonder what it'd be like
If I were never found
If they'd left the idea of me
Buried in the ground
Sometimes I dream of the dark and cold
Ice that coats my skin
And I wonder why God has sent me into a battle I cannot win
Times are different, times have changed
And being thrown into this world is strange
But I built myself a wall
To try and remember nothing at all
I'm a man out of time with the clock still ticking
My family and friends are no longer living
And all the time I wonder why
It was me chosen by God to survive
But I keep pushing on with a will made of stone
Hoping someone will tell me that I am not alone.
Sometimes I wonder what became of her
Since we never got that dance
And I still tell myself I would have saved my best friend if I just had the chance
The war may be over but my fight's just beginning
I've come to believe there's a chance that I'm finally winning
Because someone took my hand and gave me a second chance.
I'm a man out of time with the clock still ticking
My family and friends are no longer living
And all the time I wonder why
It was me chosen by God to survive
But I keep pushing on with a will made of stone
Hoping someone will tell me that I am not alone.
There are days when I cannot sleep at night
Burdened with the weight of my sin
But if America still believes in my fight
You better believe I will fight till I win
I win
I'm a man out of time with the clock still ticking
My family and friends are no longer living
But I keep fighting on with a will made of stone
Because no matter the time America is still my home..."
Steve looked up to see his friends standing behind him. It was Bruce who came and put a hand on his shoulder.
"You're not alone, Steve."
For the first time in his time since waking up, He felt he wasn't.
