Stuck inside this wretched place, I continue looking out the window.

Don't come out until we come for you.

The voices of my past are all I hear now and I want them to leave. I don't know how long it's been, yet I'm still waiting here. The sun rose slowly to begin the day. For me, however, it's like any other day in this very room.

Snow, pure white snow falls outside, making the world beautiful. It's a pity that not that many people pay attention to this. If only they would take a moment to appreciate it's beauty like I have.

I can feel it now. Cold, oh so cold it is in here. There's no kind of warmth available for me except the clothes on my back, which doesn't help much.

There's a noise now somewhere in the building. It's been a while since I've heard anything other than the sound of my heartbeat and the noises the house makes. I listen carefully only to hear the noise coming closer. Going to a corner of the room, I curl up there, my eyes shut tight, hoping that whatever it is that it'll go away soon. Hoping that it's not them.

thump thump thump.

What is this sound? Is it the intruder or my own heart?

Thump Thump Thump.

It's my heart for sure and it's beating faster with each second that passes.

THUMP THUMP THUMP.

My heart feels like it'll burst at any given moment as a sharp pain grows in my chest. Please just make it stop already!

THU-creeeak

"Hello?"

There's a sudden stinging sensation coming from my arm, but I don't care. The floor trembles a bit and I can hear the somewhat light footfalls of the intruder as they walk in, stopping right in front of me. Something brushes against my arm and I open my eyes to see what it is.

A boy was kneeling in front of me, examining my arm, touching it gingerly.

Glancing down to what he was looking at, I see the wounds I've made from my long nails piercing the skin.

He's looking at me now with eyes the color of dandelions in spring. Eyes that held concern in them.

"What are you doing here?" is the first thing he asks, taking some bandages out from his pocket and starts wrapping it around my wound to stop the bleeding.

Why was I here? It's simple really, but I just can't tell him. I don't want him to know and have him leave me alone. I can't go through that again.

"I'm waiting." My voice comes out weak, pretty much a whisper.

Finishing up with what he was doing, the mysterious boy puts his coat over my shoulders, picks me up, and carries me out of here.

"Waiting? For what?"

I take in our dismal surroundings. The house has changed so much as we pass through the hallway. It's dusty and covered in cobwebs that weren't there before I was locked away. How long have I been in there?

"I…don't know."

What did I actually expect? For them to come back and let me out or to die there alone in the contents of that room, never to be found.

My new companion with fuchsia hair smiles at me now. "Well you don't have to wait anymore. I'll take care of you."

I want to cry at hearing this. This made me so happy to know that someone cared about me, nonetheless a complete and total stranger that I have just met.

"Promise?"

Did he actually mean it? I truly want to know that he isn't lying, that he won't abandon me. Not like them.

He pauses at the front door, setting me on my feet. His large hand holds my smaller one, looking down at me with those eyes that held so much warmth and gentleness in them. "Yeah, I promise."

We made a mad dash out of there, entering the world of white, hand in hand with my savior. I stop at one point to look back before following him, leaving behind that prison forever.

So this is my first fanfic. I'm sorry if it was a bit depressing to any of you. I wrote during my last year of high school (which was last year).
