Penny for your thoughts, my dear

Elizabeth breathed an audible sigh of relief as the carriage rolled away from Longbourn. Her wedding breakfast had been more stressful than she had anticipated. She knew he tried to ignore it; but Elizabeth could see that her mother's protestations of how rich they were, grated on her husband. Her husband, how nice that word now sounded. This happy thought brought a smile to Elizabeth's lips, an action her husband did not fail to notice.

"Penny for your thoughts, my dear?"

"For such happy thoughts I should ask for much more than a penny to part with them" Darcy chuckled at this and with a flirtatious smile took his wife's hand and kissed the back of it.

"How much worth do you place in a kiss Mrs Darcy? Am I yet to be rewarded with the knowledge of your happy thoughts?"

"Perhaps for a kiss on the lips" Elizabeth blushed ferociously as she realised she had actually voiced this thought. Her embarrassment caused her to look out of the window, but had she looked at her husband she would have seen such tenderness and love in his eyes as to make her heart melt. Mr Darcy gently caressed his wife's soft cheek and turned her chin to face him.

"That blush becomes you my dear" he said before placing a soft, sweet kiss on her lips. Pulling back he smiled at Elizabeth before continuing

"Now shall I please be allowed to hear these wonderfully happy thoughts of yours, Elizabeth?" Mrs Darcy laughed lightly, her eyes dancing in that particular way which had first caught her husband's eye.

"I shall tell you husband, but you must first promise not to laugh" she paused here to allow for an answer; Darcy merely smiled and nodded for her to continue. "I was simply thinking of how wonderful it is to be able to call you my husband."

"That is most certainly not something to laugh at Mrs Darcy." This was the only response she received before her lips were once again claimed by her husband's. The happy couple passed many more minutes like this before Darcy pulled back and kissed his pretty young wife on the forehead.

"I am so happy that you're finally mine, I've been waiting for you my whole life Mrs Darcy" Elizabeth smiled contentedly as her husband wrapped his arms around her and drew her against himself.

"Mr Darcy, I.." Elizabeth started before she was interrupted by her husband.

"Elizabeth please call me William, Mr Darcy seems far too formal while I am holding you thusly"

"William," she continued "I really do love you" This earned Elizabeth another huge, dimpled smile from her husband and many more kisses on their journey to London to start their lives together.
