"Levi…" he said, reaching for the smaller man's arm. He missed Levi dearly. He didn't care if anyone saw. He pulled him against him, wrapping his arm snuggly around him. Erwin felt like a monster. He needed this. To feel human.

Levi glanced at him as he had grabbed his arm, and before he knew it he was in Erwin's embrace–the long, comforting embrace–he longed for. He wasn't hesitant when he wrapped his arms back around the taller blonde, and releasing a deep breath.

"Erwin."

"Levi… Levi," he was simply grateful to say the raven's name, "Levi. Are… you all right?"

"I'm fine," the short raven haired male managed to say as he grasped onto the back of Erwin's clothing, not wanting to release him. This was a suicide mission - this was probably the last they would see each other alive and well. "I'm… I'm fine," he repeated.

"Do you want to be fine… or are you fine?"

"I want to be fine," Levi responded truthfully, admitting how he truly felt. "I'm not ready to lose you, Smith – Erwin. Not yet."

"I… I know," he said, "I… won't promise… but I want to be with you."

"As do I. We'll make it out alive, and we'll be together."

"If I die, Levi, you have to promise me something," he said, bringing his face down closer to Levi's.

"And that it is?" The shorter man asked, tilting his head back to face the other - his steely gray hues meeting Erwin's ocean blue ones.

"You won't give up," he said, "I want you to see the world's beauty for me.

"I shall - for you, though I would love for you to make it out alive and come see it with me."

"I would to," he said, his voice softening, "Can I please kiss you… I really just need to hold you…I need to feel… human, Levi…"

"You are human," he said, giving a slight nod and went on his toes to connect their lips in a gentle but loving and passionate kiss - their lips moving perfectly in sync. Erwin clutched onto Levi, his entire body relaxing under Levi's spell, before Levi pulled back to part their lips, though his face remained a couple of inches away from each other's.

"Thank you…. Levi… so much…"

"Of course," he responded in a whisper, the slightest of smiles appearing on his face. "I… do feel strongly for you. I'm glad we were able to share this moment together."

"I… feel strongly also… you give me so much purpose… that my dream is real," he said.

"I'm sorry–I want to protect you."

"You have… and I know you will," he said, "Protecting me doesn't mean keeping me alive. Protect my dream," he said.

Levi merely gave a single nod of his head and bowed his head to lower his gaze with a quiet sigh, pulling away entirely. "I believe we both have work to complete."

"One… one last kiss," he said, pulling Levi back, "One."

Giving another nod, he reached up to press his lips against Erwin's once more, though briefly this time. Erwin pulled away with a nod, "Thank you," he said, releasing the smaller man, "I have a bottle for us to celebrate when we return."
