Prompts:
Word: Suffer
Phrase: Too late for sympathy
Disclaimer: Consider this disclaimed.
He was in more pain than she'd ever seen him. Sakura would like to think he'd taken the hit for her, but she knew better. He'd taken the hit because if she'd taken it she would've healed herself instantly and it would show she was stronger and he couldn't handle that.
A small part of Sakura wanted to let him suffer, for thinking that. Naruto was knocked out like a light and they were in the middle of a battle and all Sasuke could think about was how he had to prove himself?! Like he hadn't shown his skin the minute he left Konoha without them.
He had nothing to prove, because Sakura knew exactly who he was.
He was a traitor.
And she was the huddled form over a traitor, crying and pleading and doing her best to heal him.
Pathetic.
She's such an idiot.
Sakura blinked, and Sasuke's eyes glinted eerily as she slowly withdrew her hands. He didn't say anything, but his expression drilled one thought into her head over and over again-- Why? Why? WHY?
Sasuke-kun...
Sasuke-kun, I love you!
Sasuke-kun, please don't leave me--
Sasuke-kun-
Sasuke, Sasuke, Sas-
"It's too late," she heard herself say, her mouth moving of its own accord. "It's too late for sympathy."
Sasuke's eyes closed, and under her fingers his pulse stilled.
....ke-kun.
Shorter than most of my stuff, but I hope it was short and sweet (well, not so sweet. This is the second story I've killed Sasuke in. He's been quite annoying as of late).
