Situations.
When they were eleven and just sorted into Gryffindor, the only two boys that year, Percy had flat out told Oliver he was not going to play quidditch with him, and Oliver had told Percy to shove it off and leave him and his homework schedule (at this Percy had snorted and asked 'what schedule?') alone.
When they were twelve, Oliver went and fell off his broom and broke a few bones and damaged a bit of internal organs, thus he spent the night in the infirmary. Percy went and spent the night there too, not because he was afraid of being alone in the tower, but because Oliver was alone in the infirmary.
When they were thirteen, Oliver got himself a girlfriend (first and last), a Ravenclaw, and was very happy with her, until she dumped him and told him to either stop talking about that tight ass idiot that was his best friend (Percy sniffed a bit at the tight ass call) or go and get him to be his boy friend.
When they were fourteen, the twins made every note Percy had ever taken on the year turn invisible and Oliver had gone and yelled at them badly enough they undid the trick before the redhead had a nervous breakdown.
When they were fifteen, they drifted apart somewhat, Percy was too busy being a perfect prefect and Oliver was just too entranced with his newest pet, Harry Potter, seeker extraordinaire, to notice.
When they were sixteen, Percy got himself a girlfriend, though Oliver insisted he didn't like her. He didn't say more, though and helped Percy gather a nice bouquet of flowers for her when she ended up almost killed by some random monster.
When they were seventeen, said girlfriend dumped Percy for no apparent reason and Oliver was left to pick up the remains. He never told anyone about that little kiss, and he was a little hurt when Percy panicked and stopped talking to him for a while.
When they were eighteen, Oliver comforted a rain soaked Percy when the whole mess with the tournament and his boss was cleared, and weakly offered him a cup of tea.
When they were nineteen, Percy was hurt badly by his parent's warnings, and though Oliver agreed with them, he didn't say anything when Percy moved into his flat.
When they were twenty, Percy admitted Oliver he was afraid, but Oliver only said that as long as they stuck together it would be fine.
When they were twenty one, and fifteen minutes before the final battle, Percy proposed to a dumbstruck Oliver, who then accepted and laughed.
When they were thirty, they awkwardly went together to Percy's sister's wedding, and tried not to flinch when his younger brother made snide remarks.
When they were forty, Oliver patted Percy's back as he watched his mother burn into the burning pyre she had wanted.
When they were fifty, Percy awoke alone one morning, despite the fact there was a body in his bed.
And a week later, they were found, cold and aged, but still together, and no one had enough of a bad heart to put them in a different grave.
