What do you think the show would've been like if Regina had adopted Emma when she was a baby without knowing who she really was? (K+)

The blistering cold wrapped around her blue hands as she lay in her glass coffin. The shards of glass that were holding on to their shape cracked under the blanket of snow obscured her face from viewing. The only thing that could save her now was Prince Charming…

Regina smiled down at her baby daughter while she was sleeping. She pulled the thick hand-sewn blanket up to her neck, and when she pulled her hands down to her sides, her fingers stroked the name sewn onto the pink quilt. The name sewn onto the blanket in purple embroidered letters was Emma.

In the morning, 9-year old Emma knew that their would be pancakes and hot-cocoa with cinnamon. So she slept happily, letting her dreams wonder trying to find answers about why everybody never aged, and why the big clock didn't tick. When she woke up, her final conclusion was that the clock didn't tick because it didn't have any batteries, and the people didn't age because they used those special expensive lotions she always saw advertised on TV.

With tears and too mascara streaming down her face, Emma ran out the door lugging a large bag of her items behind her. "I hate you," she screeched to her mother, Regina, her voice already sounding hoarse from crying. She jumped into her small blue car, hitting her head in the progress, and sped off. She drove to Neal's house (one of her only friends because everybody else didn't age), and had him get into the car with her.

"What's wrong," he whispered while cupping her face with hands and wiping her tears away with his thumbs.

"Nothing" she murmured, trying to pull her face away from her boyfriend (of 4 years).

"It's okay, you can tell me" he sighed, worry in his voice. "You can tell me anything you want." He pulled Emma in for a passionate kiss before he could feel her relief.

"I want to go somewhere else" Emma announced, "Because I am 18, I can go and be whomever I wanna be! I can go to New York, California maybe, and I can get a job, and start a family. I can live the dream I have always wanted to. We could elope and have kids, if you want any. We can buy a house-a big one, and be the people we wanna be. We could start over…" she explained, trying to have Neal's answer be yes.

"I love that idea, almost as much as I love you" Neal answered, passion dripping in his voice. "Emma Mills, will you marry me?" He replied. Emma just squealed and hugged him signifying her answer was "yes."

Emma sighed, she hadn't spoken to her mother in years but she knew she would have to pick up her son sometime. She thought about how stupid she had been 10 years earlier: getting married, stealing things, and then her worst and best mistake of all time-having Henry. She knew that her mother, Henry's grandmother, took care of him all the time she was gone, because she didn't know who else to send Henry to from jail. Neal disappeared the moment there was a cop in sight, so she couldn't count on him.

Then, on her twenty eighth birthday a doorbell sounded…
