Blow the Horn of Gondor.

First I best explain myself. This is in the Humour section becasue my friends and I find this subject very humourous.

This is a very short story about 'blowing the Horn of Gondor'. It is an inside joke my friends are always going on about. So yeah.

"Merry?"

"What!?" Merry jumped startled. He had been preparing his bed, as it was getting late. He spun about and came face to face with someone's mid-section. Merry heaved a sigh of relief. "Oh, Boromir. Don't sneak up on me like that."

"I'm sorry," replied Boromir, who appeared slightly stunned by Merry's reaction.

"What did you want?" asked Merry now he had calmed down.

"Um, I was wondering if you, er," Boromir stuttered. He leaned down close to Merry's ear, and whispered. "Would like to come and blow the Horn of Gondor?"

"I-I don't know," he muttered. Then he felt someone nudge him and he turned to look at Pippin, who had obviously been listening.

"Go on," Pippin whispered encouragingly, smiling.

An excited grin spread across Merry's face and he looked back up at Boromir. "Okay, sure!" He followed Boromir of into the trees and left Pippin alone.

A while later, Merry came running out of the trees and dived under his blanket. Pippin sat up in his bed and stared curiously at the lump that was Merry.

"So, how was it?" Pippin asked excitedly. When Merry didn't answer, Pippin lent over and gave him a bit of a shake. "What was it like to blow the Horn of Gondor?"

Merry peered cautiously out from under the blanket before sitting up. He was about to answer when Boromir came out of the trees chortling quietly to himself. Merry grinned evilly and answered simply. "Why don't you see for yourself? Go ask Boromir if you can have a go too."

"Okay," Pippin said happily before jumping up and hurrying over to Boromir. Pippin caught up to Boromir and tugged gently on his tunic to get his attention. "Boromir? Boromir!"

Boromir finally noticed the little hobbit and smiled. "Ah, Pippin, how can I help you?"

"Can I blow the Horn of Gondor too?" Pippin pleaded. "I'd really like to try."

"Oh, okay," Boromir replied, suddenly looking cheerful. "Come on then."

And so Pippin gladly followed Boromir into the trees.

Some time later, Pippin returned in the same way as Merry had. Bolting out of the trees, diving on to his bed and hiding beneath the covers. Merry smiled broadly at the quivering lump that was Pippin.

"I thought blowing the Horn of Gondor was supposed to summon armies of the West," came Pippin's quiet squeak.

"Apparently not," Merry replied matter-of-factly. Pippin appeared from under his blanket.

"Very edecational none the less," he whispered with raised eyebrows, then they both started laughing.
