author's note: set during district twelve bombing. basically, this is gale/madge's last encounter in my perspective. i admit, i'm a fan of them but i'm not very proud of this piece of work. i've been going through major writers' block and i almost exploded getting this out. (constructive critism, please&thankyou)

p.s - i'm not really implying a romantic bond between the two of them, but there is a connection of sorts.

kiss my strawberry lips

.

(he finds her on the stairs)

Her sugar-white skin, and sickly yellow hair reminds him of a ghost.

She lays there, paralyzed.

Blood seeps from her skull, and her eyes are wide-open. Her opalscent irises seem to stare back at him, crying out to him as if to say: 'Why?' He can hear her smooth, silky voice, pleading.

"Why?" He whispers. "Why didn't you run?"

He kneels down beside her, and touches a hand to her skin. It doesn't feel human. Cold. Rubbery. Dead.

(correction: dying)

For a moment, he forgets the screams of horror as the bombs set fire to the world around him.

She's wearing the dress. White simple thing, burnt from the flames. But the same dress, anyhow. "Pretty dress." He remembers, beckoning her to reply.

He can feel her twitching under his hand, her soul fighting to live. He knows deep inside she can't win. Not now.

"Gale."

It hurts her to speak. He can hear the strain in her voice. But he's so damn happy to hear it. So musical. Caring. Reassuring.

"The bombs," She winces. "Fire."

"Sh," He whispers. And suddenly he's leaning down, kissing her strawberry-stained lips, saying good-bye. It's a light kiss, but he can feel her pushing for strengh, and then he's bruising her lips without thinking of it.

(it lasts only seconds, but those seconds he won't forget)

She dies with her lips on his.

(goodbye, madge)
