Alone

Alone. Like he was every night.

Every night didn't cover it. It was always night to him. Joachim Armster was always alone.

The walls held silence. That killed him more than anything but he was already dead.

Being alone wasn't all bad. He could think in the silence. Of course, that only lasted so long. His past life was gone. Stolen from him. His mortal life.

But that didn't matter to him. He could only think about her. She would be dead now. He couldn't even remember her name.

Just her looks. He long black hair. Her heart shaped face. Her slim body.

That was all he could think of. He was always getting close to her.

Her father was going to have them get married.

But then he left. Again, he couldn't remember why. He just did. Then he found the castle.

He remembered this clearly. When he went in the castle he was greeted.

By Walter.

Joachim was foolish then. He made a deal with Walter.

They fought. He won and turned him. Later he they fought again.

He lost again. Walter then locked him in the basement. To be alone.

He didn't know how many years he was locked away. He didn't even bother counting. It seemed like a waste.

Now that`s all he wanted to know. He didn't know why he wanted to know, he just did.

The thirst was destroying him. It was a wonder he could move.

But then, he felt someone.

"Hello," a voice sounded in the room.

Joachim ignored him, blaming his imagination.

"Is anyone there?" the voice sounded again, a little closer this time.

Joachim decided he might as well talk. He was already crazy.

"Who are you?" he asked getting up and turning around. Him blue armor shining.

The newcomer hesitated.

Then answered. "My name it Leon. Any you are?"

Joachim held back a smirk. He slowly stepped into the dim light of the cavern.

"My name in Joachim Armster."

Leon looked at him closely. Joachim wasn't sure if he liked that or not.

At last Leon asked, "Are you a vampire?"

Joachim grinned an evil grin. "That`s right, lowly human."

Leon looked confused. "What would a vampire be doing down here?"

Joachim looked at him with hatred. "Shut up."

Leon looked at him, clearly not excepting the outburst.

"Damn Walter, I would have won, if not for that damn Ebony Stone," Joachim shouted.

"Ebony Stone? What`s that?" Leon asked.

"If you want to know," Joachim started. "Beat me!"

Five silver swords flew up out of the ground and started to rotate around him.

"It will be a nice center piece to defeating Walter. I`ll beat you," Joachim said in a snarly voice. "To a pulp."

Leon got out a gray whip and readied it. Joachim whipped one of his swords up, commanding it forward, it launched at Leon.

The vampire hunter swiftly dodged it and whipped his whip out at him. It hit Joachim with ease.

This took the vampire by surprise. He small bit of pain hit his chest as the whip pulled back to Leon.

Joachim, not wanting to be beat again, lashed out one of his swords at the hunter. It hit Leon in the right leg and Leon went down on one knee to support it.

Joachim went up, ready to finish Leon of but Leon took a vial of holy water out and throw it at him. Joachim, unexpecting Leon`s attack went back and went back defeated, again.

Leon got up and looked at the vampire.

"You promised," he said.

What did he promise? The he remembered.

"The Ebony Stone is a stone made from alchemy," Joachim rasped out.

"Alchemy? But-" Leon started. He was cut off by Joachim`s yowls of pain.

The vampire quickly faded.

"If only I had the Crimson Stone," he said as he went.

He was finally free of the basement.

Alone. The way it started.

That was all he was.

Alone.
