Meredith Magic woke up at around 6:30am on one Saturday morning. "Why are you up so early, sweet pea?" Meredith's grandmother Grace asked her as she scurried downstairs."I'm gonna go down to the beach and explore a little.""Okay, well don't stray too far away sweetheart. We barely moved in two days ago, we do not know the area well enough yet." "Okay grandma. See you later!" Meredith yelled as she ran out the door. Meredith was strolling along the cool white sand, and breathing in the fresh morning sea breeze when she spotted a cave-like hole on the side of huge cliff at one end of the beach. "Wonder what that is." She said quietly to herself. Meredith walked all the way over to the cliff side and stared up at the cave. "Hmm... I could try to climb this. I gotta see what's up there." She said, still mumbling to herself. "Oh no you don't." Said a rough voice coming from behind her. Meredith turned around slowly and saw a rugged and skinny old man standing behind her. "Wh-who're you?" She asked him with a tremble in her voice. "Why, that's none of yer concern little lady..The question is, who are you?" "I-I'm Meredith, sir." "And how old might ye be? Nine? Ten?" "Fifteen, sir." "Ahh. Well, ye best be stayin' out of that cave, ya hear?" "But, why?" "Because I said so. It ain't good for ya." "But sir, mind telling me why?" "Listen little miss, it's best ye just take my word for it and head on home. You ain't gon' wanna deal with nothing from up there." The old man snapped at Meredith. "Y-yes, sir." The old man gave her a stern look, turned around, and slowly began limping away. "Sir..." Meredith called out to him. The old man kept walking. "What's your name?" She asked. The old man paused for a moment, but didn't turn around. "Bob, Bigtail Bob. That's what they call me." He answered, and continued to walk away. Meredith hadn't said anything else, as she waited for bob to disappear in the distance. "Bigtail Bob." she thought to herself, "Must be some kind of creepy fisherman or something." She then looked back up to the cave and thought about it for little while. "Now, I got a rock to climb!" she exclaimed. Bob's warning only made her more curious. Meredith reach way up high and got a grip on a little ridge on the side of the cliff. She pulled her self up a little ways and then placed one foot on a part of the rock that was sticking out. Meredith continued to climb swiftly up the rock until she was about four feet below the cave. "Almost there!" she said to herself happily, thought she was beginning to struggle quite a bit. "If I could only just r-reach...woah!" Meredith's foot had slipped off the rock because left-over ocean spray. "Oh god. Don't look down. Stay calm." she tried to tell herself as the only things holding her up were her arms. She looked up at thee cave and saw what looked like a small campfire light. "H-help! Please help me! I'm going to fall! Please! Anyone! Help!" she cried out. She was hesitant at first, but she had no other choice, as she felt her fingers slipping. Meredith constantly watched the light coming from the cave. A shadow arose, and she started to hear footsteps coming her way. "Please, hurry!" she cried out once more. The shadow and sound of footsteps were getting closer and closer every passing suspenseful second. Meredith did not know what to expect to see, but she told herself that she wouldn't let her fear get the best of her. Finally, the once shadowed figure came to the entrance of the cave and looked down at Meredith, and began to speak...(To be continued) Second chapter coming soon.
